When I was in school, in the 50's and 60's we had GMC school buses from the mid 50's and they had Oldsmobile engines in them! So the correct police can comment all they want. I was there when those buses were new! Rick and Jamie keep up the great video's.

Totally believe you on the olds engine. GM was much more open to putting whatever was available and worked in the truck lines. I know I don't know much about them as a mechanic in a city I dealt more with fixing cars, but even in the passenger car lines I'd find components working on them back in the day that were parts from another division (suspension parts often). Place is looking great man, blessings to ya'll.

What you really need would be a warehouse building for your shop and tools storage. Then you can use the containers for large parts storage. It would be good if the building was big enough for vehicle storage and shop space. That is ideally what the 2 of you need I think. Just keep plugging away a little at a time. Try not to loose site of the full size picture, yet focus in on the most important things. Good luck and be safe!!

Looks like you need to build a lean-to / carport against the APL container you walk past at 1:12 ;) You could get some cheap planks off of craigslist , or wherever and build some roof trusses and put them between the shipping containers and then maybe you might be able to find some corrugated iron from some house that is getting torn down. Bingo! you got yourself you own all weather sheltered workshop

I agree. Just takes time when its one guy coming up with the funds for each project while paying the bills. Its like a juggling act. Thanks Fer Watchin'. -Rick

Man, you should take a look at some kit homes. You can get some really nice ones fully architect designed and ready to be assembled with everything included. I guess you could get a nice one for 30 to 40k over there. I'm looking at one right now for 65k in Australia that two stories with like a double garage on the ground floor going up to the bedroom and living space, perfect for me ;)

I'm a little late to the party, but I believed you from the start about the Olds engine. Just to back you up for the non-believing viewers, here's some print on it: Oldsmobile Starting in 1955, for the larger GMC trucks, the Oldsmobile Rocket V8 was available. In 1955 and 1956, it was 324 cubic inches (5.3 L). Power listed for 1956 was 210 HP @ 4200 rpm; torque was 305 lbs ft @ 2400 rpm. For the 1957 through 1959 model years, it was upped in bore and stroke and called the 370. Power listed as 232 HP @ 4200 rpm and torque as 355 lbs ft @ 2600 rpm. I believe that the front emblem for the 1970 Wildcat was also used by the Electra, the LeSabre and the Estate Wagon for 1970... BUT looking at a few 1969 Buicks it's possible that the 1969 Tri Shield is the same too! There is a faded, driver quality 1969 Tri Shield on ebay for $69 right now and a really nice looking 1969 Wildcat/Electra/LeSabre Tri Shield (also ebay) for $235

Does that bumper emblem sit flush against the metal, or is it a tri-shield sitting on a 1-inch-deep "shell"? I'm a Riv guy, but I've got some other parts laying around. I have no idea what this emblem came off of. (about time you classed up this steenkin' GMC channel by talking about 455 BUICKS!).

Just wondering, would it be hard to convert a truck like Buddy back to 2wd? Just that shortbeds are getting rare and some people might have to settle for a 4wd truck, when they just want it for a daily driver / work and back and fun on the weekend sort of thing. So just asking how hard the conversion would be

@gosportjamie8 жыл бұрын
Hopefully someone will want to buy that Wildcat convertible to rebuild, with the parts you have collected you could sell it on with the sheet metal from one of the parts cars to someone who doesn't mind getting stuck in to sheet metal work. With the badge on the grille that you're hunting for I'm wondering if it might be easier to get a new one 3D printed in clear acrylic and then painted in enamel paints from the inside out. I can't imagine it's going to be anything but very difficult to find an original part as it's made from early '70s plastics which are very likely to have deteriorated significantly and become very fragile by now and any new old stock parts that may be around are likely to be highly prized so it would probably take a substantial amount of money to entice someone to part with one...

The 370 Olds engine in a 1959 heavy GM is like the 322 Buick engine in the 1956 Chevy heavy trucks. most people will say it never happened! There are trucks out there Chevys with a Buick or GMC trucks with a Olds! What non believer's need is an old parts book! 1959 GMC heavy trucks had ether a 336 Pontiac style or a 370 olds!
