Great series! I first saw it more than 30 years ago and I've always dreamt of visiting Australia ever since. I love its theme, to me, it's always been some sort of unofficial Australian anthem. Brian May is a great composer, on a par with Hollywood's greatest. And Rebecca Gilling is such a lovely actress! 👍👍👍👏👏👏

As I mentioned before ref the miniseries, the added overseas ending was a surprise to Peter Cousens, as he had cut his mop topped hair off not expecting to return. So they had to work Peter's haircut in by having his character suffer a haircut at the hands of his kidnapper.

The Dutch too added their own ending to Peyton Place, as the original ABC run had ended on a cliffhanger (with Dr Mike Rossi facing a murder charge and trial). The cliffhanger ending didn't appease Dutch viewers. So Ed Nelson, who played Dr Rossi, and Barbara Rush, who played Marsha Russell, another character in the storyline, were flown over to the Netherlands to record the new ending - which had Dr Rossi acquitted.

I recall watching the original series and buying the LPs / CDs of the magnificent music. Not sure how the hell I put up with all those Aussie accents though. I remember seeing all these faces and haven't seen it since it first aired.

Peta Toppano, Peter Cousens and Rebecca Gilling returned for the overseas ending. James Smillie couldn't return as he had taken work in theatre at that point, as he didn't expect that ending to be filmed either. A similar thing happened with Models Inc - after Fox canned the show due to poor ratings, it left the show on a cliffhanger, so Spelling Television added a new ending for international viewers. Most of the main cast returned (including Emma Samms), but unfortunately Carrie Anne Moss couldn't return as she had taken other acting work not knowing about the new ending. Hence why the fate of her character was left uncertain.

Is it me or does the blonde on the right during Peter Cousens' credit, look REALLY uncomfortable?
