Classic wholecrop silage with MB Trac, Unimog & More | Kemper & Mengele | Harvest 2020

Sit back and enjoy the wonderful sights and sounds of this classic wholecrop silage harvest. This isn't a working day but the real deal. On the agenda were 13 fields with organic triticale (a mixture of wheat and rye) that had to be chopped for organic dairy farm De Volmer, located in the Eastern part of the Netherlands. This land is in a stewardship scheme so no sprays or fertiliser is allowed. Excuse for the weeds here and there, it still makes good cow feed.
Harvesting on this day was in the hands of 2 foragers. Firstly a super tidy MB Trac 1300 and Kemper Champion 2200 and secondly a Renault Ares 550 RZ with Mengele SH 30 H and special wholecrop header. As the clamp was a 45min drive from these fields 5 tractors and trailers were needed. In order of appearance you can see:

Love MB Tracs! I was born 82 and when I was a kid there were plenty of them around and they were really impressive in size and with the 4 big wheels. A lot of my passion for farming comes from this tractor

There are plenty especially in their home country Germany but these are very valuable and collectable classics these days so not many people dare to use them properly I think.

@ They are not no but still valuable classics. I think a lot of MB Tracs from other countries such as my own ended up being bought by Germans.

@@Agrifotodotnl Parts have become a problem. They are great machines, we have MB trac 1000 with over 30k hours (year 1988) and we only use it for smaller jobs now since it has is slowly getting tired. There are not any major things wrong with it but if you would do 1000 hours a year with it now it you would have hard time maintaining it. Last year we rebuilt trannsmission and we had to source parts in Germany since you don't find them here in Slovenia. Engine has never been rebuild, we only changed head gasket once, but we had to rebuild transsmision twice and changed a lot of clutches.
