The two Swedish folk songs Yng played in the beginning are: 0:05 - Barkbrödslåten (bark tree bread song): kzbin.info/aero/PLSwVFP68snY3u_c-JU6SoKwOCIGCN0Ucz 0:25 - Jämtlandssången (song from Jämtland): kzbin.info/aero/PLSwVFP68snY0Rqth7y89kPwZCqBlfyg1S
His playing has always been on another level, but recently he seems to have added maturity to it and evolved further. He has matured as a person through many experiences, and I think this is reflected in his music. I have never seen Yngwie speak so calmly and respectfully, without disrespecting other guitarists, but still saying what needs to be said in a way that others can understand!
As a teenager, it was his devotion and dedication to music which influenced me. Watch his acoustic solo videos. He certainly has that dedication to make his music great.

At 14 years old I learned an Ingwie solo and a guitar teacher had to help me with that because i couldn’t get it perfectly so grateful for that and my playing is not like that today but it has helped me tremendously.

Love this 🙌. Best Yngwie studio tour! I would have loved to see a list of all his outboard gear and what plugins he uses. It was difficult to see the names of some of the outboard gear.
He has a great way of praising and underhandedly dissing “simple” rock and roll guitarists and making himself look great.

To me you are the modern musical great. You are the modern equivalent of all the classic classical greats but with the mighty fender Stratocaster and Marshall y.j.m.
I love the new Malmsteen album. Usually I'm not so keen on very fast tempos but even the fast ones, I like them a lot. The whole record has a mixture or energy and soulfulness and his vocals are excellent, he sings like plays, with a lot of emotion! Some great musical ideas, the chords in God Particle are beautiful and the descending sequence in Sea of Tranquillity is extremely cool!

He’s got the record for most cover appearances, but it’s the same old questions though, right? I enjoy watching Yngwie all the same, because he’s my favourite player. But, man… it’s all the same questions. As a life long fan, I wish I could ask him some new fresh questions. I could literally sit in for him for any interview from the last 15 years. Does he have extreme guidelines on what he’ll actually talk about?
@davidaraujo9273 жыл бұрын
I was thinking exactly that!

the questions are repetitive because his style is repetitive. Great nontheless, but all the same over and over and over since the mid '80s.
@graphicalsolutions18993 жыл бұрын
I agree. Can't beat the technicality or speed, but it is indeed the same over and over again.
@JedNadin3 жыл бұрын
Anyone saying Malmsteen is repetitive or always the same hasn’t listened to his entire back catalogue and/or has a pretty undiscerning ear. From the beginning to end of each decade his playing has changed drastically. His phrasing, his approach, even how he incorporates arpeggios is entirely different since Relentless. How many of the big name “premier guitar players” have really changed their compositional and playing style over the years? Paul Gilbert has. But I can pick a Vai or Satriani song without hearing their lead playing. Slash is very Slash. Even someone as competent as Govan has his idiosyncratic tendencies, licks, and techniques. Like a pro wrestlers five-move set. It’s just style. And Yngwie has tonnes of it, enough to deserve better than being so constantly branded as a one trick pony. The worst thing is Far Beyond the Sun, Blackstar, Trilogy, and Evil Eye seem to be his biggest hits. People hear them and state “heard them, heard ‘em all”. What about “Save Our Love? No Mercy? Enemy Within? Bedroom Eyes? Vengeance? Wield My Sword? That’s some eclectic composition right there, with very different guitar playing, production, and lead work.
@Nghilifa3 жыл бұрын
@@JedNadin Save our love is just a straight up ballad though, with classical sensibilities. Bedroom Eyes is also great, but it's just a straight up rock number. All genres have scale/modal patterns etc that's common to that genre, so all music in general, is repetitive. It's not a bad thing imo.

Question for Yngwie J. Malmsteen: I would like to know the chord harmony of the arpeggio sequence of the song Too Young To Die Too Drunk To Live by Alcatrazz off of the album No Parole From Rock 'N' Roll released in 1983. how did you put together the harmony of the arpeggio sequence (that happens right before the guitar solo)? P.S: not the harmony of the song itself Thanks in Advance Yngwie J. Malmsteen!
Such a nice interview! Yngwie seems pretty laid back, nicer than I've been used to and it's great to hear him talk about this kind of stuff... thanks for uploading! I would just wish there were English subtitles for the questions we didn't get to hear Thanks again

There are a lot of good heavy rock songs on the album's to allow commercial sales.The classically inspired solo pieces are phenomenal really but performances need vocal lines and verse / chorus structures that average people can relate to.

From Steve Vai to joe Satriani all of them have been playing the same songs and the same style of music over and over again, but somehow yngwie is the only one being called on it.

When you hear what Yngwie says, he makes a perfectly logical case for what he does, and he says it without sounding like a pompous ass. The problem is when you hear from someone else what Yngwie said. They'll make you think he's arrogant and narcissist.

Nowadays he is this way. Back 2000's when i started to listening his stuff he always gave a vague and short explanation of his playing. It was intentional , if you read his book, in order to keep some 'mystic'.
