The "stripped" versions of her songs showcase her voice the best. Her range goes up to whistle notes! Born Without a Heart, Bad Dreams, and of course Tears of Gold. The last song of the concert you were just watching occurs post credits, called Elon, also a must-review!

Based on what I’ve seen/heard from Faouzia so far, I think she is a beautiful artist with a powerful voice, and the comparison you did with Lady Gaga was very interesting :) Your musical analysis is always much appreciated; thank you, Sir!

I heard her for the first time and the first thing that comes to my mind is that she is a living instrument 😅. Tears of gold (stripped) is the first song of her that i've heard. If you have listened to it maybe you would agree with me. I'm pertaining specifically on the intro where she hummed the melody perfectly that it almost sounds like coming from an instrument. ❤

I really enjoyed your technical analysis. I hope you'll do more Faouzia - you could do the rest of this concert or at least the best performance: the encore of "Elon" after the credits. You'll find all of these songs also available in "Stripped" versions where you can hear the vocals really well but not live. There is so much amazing Faouzia content at this point! You could also check out her singing "Minefields" with John Legend Live on the Today Show.

Thank you so much. Of course, I'd love to hear more because I love her music and i really enjoy your reactions and analysis. (I found you from Home Free). This songwriter loves the unexpected. I've watched many reactors wave a finger in the air where they expect the next note to be, and be surprised. The piano following the vocal line is something she does a lot. She trained in piano, not voice. And it seems to have carried over to her phrasing and dynamics. Always dramatic, her powerful voice reminds me of Linda Ronstadt, but her music reminds me of the way Joni Mitchell doesn't always resolve a phrase or a chord conventionally. What you might call 'filthy'. Good filthy. "Tears of Gold" is arguably Faouzia's best song. And I only the stripped versions. But I still love the drama and storytelling and that bit of syncopation in "Bad Dreams" best. That's the song that made me a superfan. Looking forward to whatever you do next.

Thank you for the recommendation! Hope you enjoyed Very interesting about the piano - do you know when she started singing (or properly singing)? I've seen several mentions of 'Tears of Gold' 👍
@ms.chuckfu10888 ай бұрын
@SirHairless Seems she was just one of those kids who was always singing and making up songs. She grew up with both Western Pop and Arabic singers like Umm Kulthum and Fayrouz on play. She studied classical piano for 12 years But apparently, no voice lessons. Not unexpected as she grew up in a rural town of only 3,000 people. But she and her older sister started playing and singing at local events when she was 8. And by 15, she was posting her covers on social media. When big sis went to Uni, Faouzia continued solo. She entered a few songwriting and singing contests, amd had some success. I think what she didn't learn on her own, she picked up from the music professionals she encountered in her teenage years. Smart cookie, she was enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science program. The summers were for music. After her third year, she decided to do music full time. Still not very well known, she did a small tour in Europe and the US in 2022. The night I saw her, there were technical difficulties. So she sang "Desert Rose" without a mic or monitor, just the guy on keyboard, and charmed all 200 people in the audience. The other link I sent you is a recent performance of her cover of "Blue (Da Ba Dee)". I think you'll like it if you are familiar with the original.

She has a great cover of Eiffel 65's Blue. She does it ballad style, which makes it more moving because you can tell it's actually a depressing song.

Oh, welcome to the fantastical world of Faouzia! I am SO glad one of your patreons requested her song. She is such an amazing singer/musician/song writer and more. She's done a number of covers as well as her own songs, to hear anything of hers where it is just her and the piano or guitar just looked for the stripped versions, in my opinion they out shine the produced versions. She has quite the catalogue of songs. I'm pretty sure she has covered Lady Gaga songs, as well as Adele, J. Cole, and many others. Tears of Gold is her 'flagship' song. Lots of her songs are very inspirational, she writes out of personal situations and ones of friends, so they are all dear to her. She wrote one called Exothermic after her class in university where it was discussed, and it's great too! Some others to look into are: Born Without A Heart; Bad Dreams (which she wrote when she was 14); My Hearts Grave; 100 Bandaids; Wake Me When It's Over (written while in lockdown at the beginning of Covid); Hero; ... the list goes on. Enjoy!!

She composes most of her songs herself and plays the piano, violin and guitar, she can also sing in English, French and Arabic, so I suspect that the piano parts are hers, just played by an accompanying pianist and this can be verified by checking out her video of the stripped version of this song where she accompanies herself on the piano, along with many others stripped videos, where she once again plays the piano herself. The entire show from the Burton Cummings Theatre, where this performance came from, is posted on her KZbin channel and the entire show is just her and the pianist, every song is superb and this one is one of her simpler song musically and vocally, if you can believe that.
