I don't think this has enough love and attention. classical saxophone is so beautiful, but rarely anyone even knows it exists, much less appreciates it.

Because classical saxophone repertoire is mostly contemporary stuff that nobody wants to listen to. Of course it's not bad when it's composed by Piazzola.

@@3ormoreletters Still eh to me. The sound is too meager imo. They should try to keep same style with a bit less vibrato and a thicker sound.

I personally think this is a great way to describe Classical Saxophone, having students (like me) listen to this is a great way to help them understand a good idea of what the should try to sound like and work towards as a classical saxophonist. I’ve been working on my Classical tone because I’m literally capable of playing with a Jazz Style on my classical mouthpiece it’s not even funny, it’s good for Jazz but now I sound really bad in classical. My music teacher asked me to listen to things like these to get a good idea of things.

I like how most of the comments forget that the saxophone was made for classical music, the inventor did try to sell it as being able to play everything, and with the whole old conspiracy to keep it out of the symphony(super interesting story, look it up), but its true calling was the grand stage of classical.

What is the difference between a jazz mouthpiece and a classical mouthpiece and how to tell the difference? Edit: does it even make a difference?
@lexitheperson95572 ай бұрын
On a classical mouthpiece the tip is usually more straight while on a jazz mouthpiece it's slightly more up kinda making the opening larger (idk if this is making sense) but yes jazz mouthpieces change your entire tone.
How do you get that altissimo a out with such a clean attack

How do you get the Altissimo A to sound? I get squonk every time. Everything is this piece sings so well from you! It’s beautiful
@chengoscar1566 Жыл бұрын
Do more overtone practices, you can start with using the neck only and try to capture three overtones ranges. And then you can try exercise like playing octave C major without using octave key, playing overtones using low Bb key etc. After you are more familiar with overtones, that means your embouchure and tongue position is better, and altissimo will sound better
