flamenco guitar really stands out in the rumba part (probably no surprise here)

Awesome comparison! In my opinion, the flamenco was a more crisp, brighter sound, whereas the classical was a warm, almost darker sound. Both played with tremendous skill.

Mostly I preferred the flamenco, but the Tarrega definitely sounded better on the classical.

Classical guitar has more sustain and softer sound, while Flamenco has a sharper and stronger attack but less sustain. The difference in design, I assume, is the wood used to craft it and also the action of the guitar and strings. Performing Picado with a classical guitar would sound awful due to the sustain.

The difference reminds me of the difference between an archtop steel string (Gibson L-5 pattern) and a flattop steel string (Martin D-18) pattern. Punch and clarity versus bass and warmth.

Would be great if you could point out the differences in 'feel'. Because now we just hear sound differences. It seems you had no trouble playing all songs on both.

the classical guitar seems better suited to mixed harmony whereas the flamenco guitar seems to be having a better note vocation .

The Flamenco guitar sounds brighter, and the Classical sounds warmer. Both sound great though!

You should have mentioned which one is the classical and which one is the flamenco at the end of the video so that people could give unbiased opinion. I think Malaguena sounded better in classical and Rumba sounded better in flamenco. One thing I don’t understand is that why the flamenco players specially likes the fret buzz of the flamenco guitar.

maybe you can help me with this one: i bought an ibanez cat5e (or so). flat body, low action and the bridge just got put up more to the soundhole so the neck was overall longer. that felt so uncomfy but is this a "flamenco" guitar? i sold it for an classical guitar with normal necklength
