Too-rye-ay was always my favourite Dexys album, so I'm an exception there. And it's wonderful in its subtler new incarnation. Well done, Kevin, Helen and Pete. Kevin just gets more and more lovely as he ages. He's a rare and beautiful human being. I'll never forget the powerfully soulful and sensual effect that album had on me at 13.

I have never heard of Colleen Murphy before, But i hope to see more of her interviews again, This is how an interview should be conducted with any artist, She is calm and collected and listens without interfering, This lady is a pleasure to listen to, Love from Oz :)

Great to hear Rowland finally giving Archer some credit and showing his gratitude even though it's very late. He listened to Archers demos and he's right Too Rye Ay would not have happened if Rowland had not listened to Archers demo, even the dress-down look. Rowland is a hard worker and a very lucky man to have been given the chance to be given the unique style of music, the dress-down image, and Helen whom Archer found. Rowland took the style, He says highly influenced but it was more than that. Not the songs but the unique style, ideas, and build-up. I wonder without The Babes influence would Too Rye Ay ever have existed. It's such a shame it took so long for Archer and Blue ox Babes to have any recognition at all, it took a long time. The truth will set you free,

Kevin Rowland was giving Al Archer credit for the Too Rye Ay sound as far back as 1995.

I never had any issue with the original but am thrilled to have this new box set edition. A perfect album start to finish then and now.

He talks about luck ! But you need to be committed and you need to make brilliant records ! And they certainly did that ! At the time I had three of the albums , Soul Rebels , Too Rye Ay and Don't Stand Me Down ! But recently I've been playing Don't Stand Me Down an awful lot ! One of my top five favorite bands !

My favourite Dexys Mignight Runners moment of all time was when they performed "Jackie Wilson Said" on TOTP, and they showed pictures of Jocky Wilson in the background lol

I dreamed of a very poppy follow up which didn't materialise. 3 long years waiting for Don't Stand Me Down. Has Kevin found the Young Soul Rebels ? I'm still not sure if I Believe In My Soul yet.

Interesting about what he says about listening to Soul records when they were recording....'Come on Eileen' is an absolute rip off of the British Soul classic Jimmy James 'A man like me' written by Biddu in 1972. All people have to do is search it on here and its blindingly obvious!

@@50milliondownthedraintonym16 I think why Kevin´s style still refreshes is that he styles himself for who he is, not for what is going on. He will be inspired but with a Kevin Twist. What he is wearing in this is a case study of a truly stylish person. The big green cords, red sweater blue shirt and neckerchief all strike of his gypsy, tinker, Irish roots but then he puts in his individual twist with the red PF Flyers and full length fur coat! It just works on him.
