I love her six morceaux for violin and piano. They are SO charming. I wish someone would record her piano pieces for two hands and four hands. Her son was an accomplished violin is The Who also composed for strings. But I particularly enjoy. The Viardot Quartet’s recording of the three piano quarters by daughter Louise Heritte-Viardot.

I found her on accident when I read through Carol Kimball’s “Song Literature” in grad school and thought she sounded amazing! Fast forward a few years and now I teach a Song Literature class and she is definitely going to be discussed!

Thank you sir for this episode :) I just stumbled upon your channel right now and may i say you have gained a new subscriber. I've been listening to her arrangements of Chopin's mazurkas for a number of years now, but never really took the time to know her. Now I do, thanks to you.

Glook, darlink! (Glück) (actually gleuk)Thank you for the extra info on this extraordinary artist. We have found a 1860 Érard in excellent condition and want to create a series of pianists and singers (yes, I'm one of those ; ) playing the music that was meant for those pianos..Not the brilliant Steinways, but the loving rich long resonating intimate sounds of the Pleyels and Erards, different as they were also in sound. It is such a different experience to sing Lieder with them also..as it was meant to be. Chapeau! for your series here,

I read that Russian writer Turgenyev has a crush on her. That brought me here :) Thanks for a video about Viardot with this much detailed info. It’s also very easy to understand for a person as me who is the opposite of classical nerd...
