Greek coins in general, have better die engraving and art design than most Roman coins, for this reason I like Greek coins a lot better. The quality on these coins are so amazing that it literally took more than a millennium for the European coins to catch up in term of craftsmanship and beauty

I mostly collect Roman coins but I also love Greek coinage the best! It's just so difficult to shell out the money on a proper Greek when you're on a tight budget!

My favorite is my Seleucus the first Tetradrachm 311-300 BC. Very high relief Babylon mint.The Seleucids made some of the finest coins I’ve ever seen without a doubt.

Thanks! Indeed, early Seleucid Coinage is unbelievably beautiful, especially if you like realistic and well made portraits.

I have a gorgeous Antiochus VII tetra. A few Menander tetras, Antiochus III and a Eucratides I drachma and more. Love them.

I recently purchased a Tetradrachm of Antiochus I in Mint State and fine artistic style. It is absolutely a beautiful piece of ancient art.

I think Seleucid tets have the best portraits :D

Superb video! I’ve actually just purchased a drachm of Seleucus II and can’t wait to get ahold of it. Would be a dream come true to get a Tetradrachm of Antiochus III. Speaking of Seleucus, when you showed the amazing Tetradrachm of him off, you had the mint date written as 246 - 255 but it should be 225 which was when he unexpectedly fell from his horse and died. You even said the correct date but that’s just me nitpicking. Can’t wait to see more!

Hey there, I have a question. I seen forms that say storing coins in wooden cabinets can tone or outgass the coin. Is there a way you can elaborate on that I'm a separate video. I want to display it on a wooden case but I don't want to ruin my coins over the years. Thank you
@ClassicalNumismatics2 жыл бұрын
For wood cabinets, Mahogany cabinets with properly aged wood are ideal, these dont tone the coin :) Ill make a video on coin cabinets once I manage to get a hold of one

The seleucids produced some of the best coinage, shame that it has increased in price recently

Always learn so much by watching your videos, keep them up! (Noticed this part has 255 BC instead of 225 BC 4:05)

Amazing how well these coins were produced back in such early times. What a disappointment the medieval period coins are in comparison. I am really enjoying your videos. I even find myself, in order to improve my pronunciation, parroting back your words. There is no real joy in my pronunciations compared to yours.

Buenas Leonardo. Saludos.
