In 1970, major league ball players were still expected to play in at least 1 doubleheader per week. Today, the MLB player’s union would not allow this, saying that “you’re working us too hard.”

1st to comment. I hate the Yankees. Especially Yankees fans. Detroit Tigers were awesome between 1967 thru 1972 , accept 1970. 1967 2nd place, 1968 world champs , 1969 2nd place. 1971 2nd place. 1972 1st place. Interesting Russ Nagelson in right field. Nagelson appears on a 1970 topps baseball card as a Cleveland Indian. He also appears on a 1971 topps card as a Tiger. I wish we could hear the Tiger Annoucers. Pete Ward at 1st base for the Yankees. His best years were with the White Sox as a 3rd baseman. Okay tie for 1st pitch.
