You can hear the telegraph ticker in the background. Lots of tips from Gillette on how to make razors last longer to help the war effort. Lieutenant Hank Greenberg asking for mechanics and radiomen to sign up.

After this series, Scooter and DiMaggio both went into the military. Other note is that Stan Musial was all of 21 here

Also Mel Allen went into the service. He was an artillery man, if I remember. Can you imagine if he fired a shell off, it caused a huge explosion and he might have said "How about_ that!" Or, as the shell went he could have said "It is going, it is going, it is GONE!" Truthfully, the whole "Going, going, gone" thing started after he returned from the Service. First time he did it, he went off the microphone and said to Russ Hodges "I sounded like an auctioneer on that one." He kept it in the act though.

Musial with the game winning hit. Slaughter with two key plays, a double to set up Musial’s rbi, and an outfield assist that saved an inning.

red did have an unusual accent- He was born in Mississippi and raise in Florida- It was almost as though he had a blend of a Brooklyn and southern accent

@@MrHalby he was largely self-educated and extremely well-read. However he couldn't shake his Mississippi roots no matter how long he spent in New York.
