I like that you're actually willing to say what you think about a game. Sometimes you just don't give a shit about story, and that's okay because it's your opinion and you state why. I totally agree, sometimes you just want to sit back and blow stuff up. Other times you pick up an RPG and indulge in a deep story. Just got this game, a very cool mish-mash of Virtual On and shmup games. It's a pretty bare-bones arcade port but it's a great concept and lots of fun. It's not surprising you compare it to a Dreamcast game since it was a NAOMI arcade game. Even though it could've been an XBLA release I'm glad it wasn't because such a unique game deserved a physical release. If you like the Dreamcast era arcade ports this is totally worth checking out for the 2 to 6 bucks it might cost you.

Christopher Blair I think even if is just the arcade SP port with some minimal extras, is nice to have such a game like this. Sadly, as always, any kind of games like this, if they get outside of Japan, they get hated for no-reason...

Good review as always. As a matter of fact it IS a souped up Dreamcast game. Senko No Ronde was an arcade game on the Naomi. I played the game at China Town Fair when they had the game for less then one month. The game is a lot of fun and you can pick it up for cheap now. It's an awesome game to play with friends. When you learn how to play it, it becomes an insane game.

Suprise, IT IS- Its a NAOMI Game so it actually is a souped up dreamcast game. Its a bit obscure but, you have to be paying attention. Naomi arcade boards were linked dreamcasts, They could push some pretty powerful pixels with the dc. My biggest complaint is that the "rounders" look fugly. Virtual on:ortango tangram had beautiful designs and colors. Otherwise an awesome 360 game for cheap. Sadly Ubisoft really blew the promo for it.

I think there is deffinately a market for Microsoft to publish japanese games on the marketplace with or without translation....like you said just basic subtitled translation is fine.What if they managed to make some software that would roughly translate the japanese into english and then hand that over to the developers to put into there game like in PSO . 25+ year of gaming on computers and consoles it's so refreshing to play something completely from a diffferent world.

OK I own a 360. Wartech is not another FPS. I am coming round to the idea that games don't have to be a FPS like the bizillion others. I'm not a shmup fan either so I hard to convice. Looking at the review here on CGRHD for the third time I'm thinking yeah this game Wartech is different. Its got the mark of classic shmup but projects it into a multi dimension and the combat transforms into an arena with fighting robots with swords. This game is going to be a classic.

:) Well thing is , i dont think : the japanees voice sounds like pikachu . But the voices you hear here do . If european pple wouldaved made it , it still wouldave sound like pikachu . Though , i think there is not much variation in voice in games anyways .they all seam to have very similar : The big terminator hero voice / the sexy bich voice / the dumb side-kick voice / the bad guy voice ...

I'm surprised their eyes aren't as big as admiral ackbars from Star Wars. all of those bright flashing colors and rotating shapes would most certainly dilate my pupils a few sizes larger than normal. Love the fact this game came out with Japanese voices only. So many Japanese games are badly dubbed and ur stuck with those dubs only (see star ocean last hope, DW Gundam 2 ect) This is a top arcade game, its not for everyone but its awesome for those who like this sort of thing.

Reminds me of a topdown version of Zone of the Enders. Haha that was actually the first game ever got for the PS2. Then when Halo came out I sold my Playstation and got an Xbox, and of course I stuck with the Xbox 360 (cuz the PS3 is an overratted POS, no offense).

Actually if this game was food it would be like a summer salad. Nothing too heavy or filling. But very tasty none the less. Nothing too deep but a fresh arcade feel with breezy music and a pleasing twist on the shmup.

It is a nice game but once you get into versus mode with a friend, the battles soon fall into a pattern once you're both really understanding the game and I think that kills the fun in the long run.

I love this game! I played this game very hardcore when it was released in Japan! Pretty good shooter arcade game. Game matches vs. other are sweet too. Easy to find a characters with your skill match. I would buy it for my 360. (@ the reviewer) Dude, don't bitch about that game for having Anime themes. If you dislike anime? Stop playing Japanese games. Because most of themes of Japanese games have anime.

The transformations remind me of a old nes game Ive been searching for for years online, but I never could find it. It was a top down shooter, and thats the msot i remember. I remember one of the bosses, you could get into its inclosed area and shoot at it.
