Classic Game Room HD reviews COLIN MCRAE RALLY 04 for Xbox from 2003 from Codemasters. This is a rally racing game that predates the newer Dirt series and focuses solely on Rally championship events with 2wd and 4wd cars. This was released for the original Xbox and PC, the Xbox version playable and compatible with Xbox 360.

You're right, they changed it to make it more appealing to the US market. We in Argentina love rally races so I prefer this kind of games too.

My favorite rallying game is the PS2 game 'World rally Championship' from 2001. If you want an awesome rally game you should try that one, it is epic. Some of the stages are 7-9 minutes long... true rallying epicness.

Ya i had this game for the xbox, great game and the tyre's do make a big difference.. Another great rally game that came out back then 04/05 was a game called "Rally Evolved" for the ps2, worth checking out if your a rally fan

You are sooo god damn right about dirt2, i loved the old McRae Rally games, played them since the first. And dirt2 is just another racing game, a fun one, but ultimatly it only made me want to play the old ones like CMRR 04 again... so anyway it was fun to play GranTourismo clones over and over and over but now: GIEV ME BACK MEH RALLY GAMEZ! btw your voice is pure 1337 awesomeness for game reviews

remember the fast paced hardware ongoing and keep in mind it's 6 yrs old! that's a c64 game from 1986 compared to an amiga game from 1992. and therefore it's REALLY REALLY great!!! notice, that 1986 the time went not so fast as todays 6 yrs!

to me this game was the hardest driving game i had ever encountered. unlike gran turismo and etc. the sliding on the dirt and losing control. good times.

I completely agree with you.. Only thing is, that i would still prefer old Championship Rally and then Richard Burns rally.. Since that, there was no proper rally game..

I had great fun playing Sega Rally 2 in the arcade once, spent a million bucks playing the game, actually completing it a few times. Now I want a game which has the same gameplay, not necessarily better graphics and G25 support on the PS3. I would certainly buy that. Or just re-release Sega Rally 1 or 2.

@mageac well obviously there are going to be things you can do to make it unrealistic its a video game, but the point of those games is to simulate driving as best as possible, they are even categorized as simulation racers.

HD Theater has excellent WRC highlights come to think about it, along with Manx TT Annual Race. Personally, the old Colin Games (i havent played 1 or 2.0 only 03-05) are pretty hard compaired to Dirt just like old ToCA games are harder IMO vs GRID. But you really want a HARD rally game, try Richard Burns Rally....that is close to real as possible. Nice vid once again, Mark!

Yes I have it, ok, thanks for explaning your opinion :) I never played the older cmr unfortunately, but I am enjoying dirt3, I play it with all the assists off, and it is very nice that way, but I would like to see the series go back to a more rally-centric experience, I don't "hate" gymkhana and all the other stuff, but I sure as hell don't like it as much as rally xD

@ITAlife98 I agree, but I´m not sure if Ken Block´s that super - he´s an American driver, by that I mean that the Americans started entering rally races quite recently, so - you know. You could write that Mikka Häkkinen is a great driver - which he is, not only in WRC, but also in F1.

Dirt 2 is the CoD of the rally world. In other words, very accesible for those casual gamers and designed for the mainstream. Although still a fun game.

I guess Colin Mcrae 3, 04 and 05 are very similar, so your better purchase will be 2005, as it has more tracks, cars and challenges. But the graphics, gameplay and controls are almost identical

i love rally races and im in the U.S dirt 2 is fun but i might play this more i played when it came out on a demo disk it only hadd like 2 car's and 4 track's but it was fun and hard like it should be :)
