Such a damn good movie. I think I watched this every time it aired back in 83 on HBO. To this day my brother and I still quote it on occasion.

Gosh- I was 11 also when this came out. What a great movie and acting. The HBO intro- so nostalgic. I wonder if kids now ideas will look back on days of today as fondly as we do on our happy days. Man I miss them. Definitely not a pessimist but just so happy and so sad to think of them days when everything seemed so much more simpler...

I suspect that this new generation will have happy memories of the things they've done outside. There won't be much nostalgia for the things they found on social media. That's not a bitter comment from a miserable man, that's the truth. We formed our nostalgia because we thought the media we loved was lost forever. Now, kids can find whatever they want whenever they want. Unless the internet has a complete blackout and all media disappears, I'd say it'll just be a commonplace thing to them.

So funny- I was probably glued to the TV when this aired. I was 11 and this was (and still is) one of my favorite films ever.

Marc Singer gives an amazing performance of Tom Sullivan but even more amazing is the real person behind the movie. Tom has gone on to become an inspiration to others, developed a career, a strong family man and has made us realize that we can accomplish anything we wish, even with a challenge like blindness or whatever....love the song he sang with Helen Reddy, too!.

Saw and heard Tom back in 73 at the Baked Potato Lounge in Orange County. No bass and drummer ....just Tom, his piano and Stormy Monday !!!! He was so great !
