This piece was written whilst the composer was travelling away from Cuba, and is expressive of his homesickness. La etnia de los sivoney en Cuba, era muy pacífica al extremo que se asentó en los humedales y zonas pantanosas, desarrollando una cultura de existencia muy especial, e ligieron esos territorios por qué nadie está interesado en ellas y por consiguiente tampoco estarían interesados en invadirlas . Ernesto Lecuona compuso esta belleza para que los cubanos y el mundo tomarán en cuenta su pensamiento "no se pierda tu recuerdo en el oscuro manigual"
