Greco's reputation for gnarly hammers had been building and he cemented his legacy with this part and others to come. Pat Rumney introduces a classic from 2000.

The good old days before the internet… you could be relevant for YEARS off of ONE good part. These guys got shoe and clothes deals and barely skated. So much money in the industry during the late 90s-early 00s boom.

Switch Stance Backside Tailslide12, you couldn't be more on point. When I play S-K-A-T-E, I don't bother with the technicalities of names. When I pop out a nollie backside flip, I simply say, "Jim Greco." The younger generations scratch their heads wondering why. If you look at the crack on the sidewalk, he goes perfectly parallel with it as he rolls out.

but thats exactly what real skating styles about....too bad other people dont know unfortunately. Its all about the signature tricks that sw flip boardslide and his sw flip front nose vans ad from back in the day were textbook Greco most young skaters these days dont have signature tricks or jack shit to throw to their own name as the days are slipping by its why theres so many ams and why the industry has to rebuild lol, all because the robots are skating like their programmed to. If only the majority of "pros" were just out on a mission to kill everything in sight like theyre supposed to where we can let our mouths water as their new parts come on and we see famous spots and yearn for the "signature tricks" glory days of skating and always how it should be.

I dont know if any new Greco part will ever compare to this. Sure subsequent parts have him doing even more tricks and spots just as big..... but he wasnt as nodding as hard as he was when he filmed this part. This was a pile part, he was probably still high off the smack and charlie when those tricks were filmed. Thats why its a classic.

I remember meeting Jim at a demo in Tulsa,OK.. late 90’s or barely 2000’s.. called X-fest.. Willy Santos, Hawk was there, I think Andrew Reynolds, a few others.. my man Ramondetta wasn’t pro yet.. we were all skating in the demo.. amazing time! So Jim was skating this trash can on flat, far away from everything that was going on but there was a big crowd.... he was trying to FS ollie it.. & I started skating w/ him.. he was kind of a dick actually! And I though he’d be a decent dude.. I loved his skating. Guess he was having a shitty day.. regardless- he was a PRICK for no reason & treated me like a lil’ kid! I wasn’t kicking him or anything. Just hi 👋🏼 shake.. & he blew me off! So I shut that session down! switch Ollied it, then kick-flipped it.. he just walked away even more pissed 😜
