Ma'am, what is the difference between matrix and cement??
@GEOGIRL2 жыл бұрын
To my understanding, a fine-grained matrix can include small detrital or clastic particle, while cement is chemical by definition. For example, if you have a sandy conglomerate and your large gravel grains aren't in contact with each other, we would say that the gravel grains/clasts are suspended in a finer-grained matrix (in this case a sandy matrix). Whereas, cement only applies to the chemical precipitates that glued the grains together during or after deposition. Hope that makes sense. If you have any more question, don't hesitate to ask! ;)

So glad you liked the video! :) I actually wasn't going to make a depositional environments video because I have a whole playlist of videos about depositional environments on my channel already: kzbin.info/aero/PL69bBhmsrgfsrQyfSaxx5ioVhhfwtyAHI Check out the playlist and let me know if I am missing any info you need and I will try to make more on the missing information. I hope you find those videos helpful. I shot them a long time ago, so the video quality isn't the best, but I promise the information is good ;)
