I love how your boyfriend came to help and you kept moving furniture and thinking, and moving furniture and thinking. ☺️ My boyfriend/now husband used to do that. Now 25 years later he gets to sit it out and I now have two strong sons and a creative daughter that get to take the trip every summer with mommy and help out. 🥰 Best Wishes on your teacher journey.

You might want to put a small bit of colored tape on your cabinets or on your window panes. The desks will creep up slowly to the front of the room over time, and you could use the colored tape to remind you where the desks were places originally. This is normal because when students stand up to go to the carpet or leave the classroom, their natural hand and arm movements will make the desks move. Best of luck to you in your first year. This is year 27 for me, and I hope that you fill find your first year a blessing.

Your room is wonderful. I wish I was young again. My husband and I decided to homeschool our daughter so l am an old teacher coming back for my second year in Pre K and K in the Alaskan Bush. It really feels like I am starting over. No Walmart or Michaels but I can not wait to get there and get my classroom started. Have the best year.

I personally would just keep the 7 new matching tables and ditch the rest. The more floor space the better

Have you thought about putting labels on the Stem and Math Manipulative’s? Lakeshore has pictures and labels you could print as well as Label Pockets for the outside of the bins. I was also thinking of a suggestion with the photo card “place value sets” - to make a “key” for the students to place inside the bottom of the photo card holder with a picture of 1 100table, 10 tens, 10 ones, that way the students know how many should be in the bin at all times. I haven’t watched all your videos yet so maybe you already did this but this way everyone knows where everything should be at all times. And I would especially label the bins and the cabinet with each space so that any teacher who is working back there at the stem or manipulative table can easily find and put back the bins. And you can even have a classroom job for a student of “bin sorter” and they can check and make sure each day each bin is in their right spot on the shelves - and you can also have a “bin organizer” and they can organize the bins if they are messy.

Everything looks amazing! Your little ones are going to love all of the colours! I find it really interesting seeing how teachers in the US set up their classroom! I wish schools over here gave us this much freedom. Haha! Love these videos! :D

It's coming together so well Lauren! I like the idea of placing a rug in front of those swivel doors. I've had those and they are definitely hard to work around sometimes. The rug will also give students a floor space to work for centers, stations, etc. My 2nd graders love to work on the floor and have choice. I notice the crate seats are still there. What is the update on those? Is it a fabric issue?
@puttingthemfirst5 жыл бұрын
Holly C THAT IS SUCH A GREAT IDEA!!! If that math workspace/Number Talk meeting place could double as a center (perhaps with some lap desks or clipboards) I would have designated spaces for all of my literacy centers. Thank you so so much! With the crate seats- we are unsure with the new year what will be enforced. I didn’t ask if It had to do with fabric or floor space so I’m not sure at all. But leaving them out and remaining hopeful!

Love your videos! I am a second year teacher and I just love watching a classroom come together. Keep posting! :) I can’t believe you can only go to your classroom during certain hours and days of the week, that’s a bummer. I could be in my room 24/7 if I wanted to and it’s so helpful!

Love your arrangement so far! I’m a first grade teacher too! Going into my 2nd year. I tried vlogging last year but I got too busy! One tip would be to make sure you make a schedule for yourself so you keep up with filming during the year. That’s my plan this year! Can’t wait to see what it looks like all done! #weteachfirst #firsties
