But our entire school was painted over the summer so we had to take everything down and move all furniture too the center of the room. A lot of work but I kinda appreciate the fresh start!

I love that you’re back to teaching. I started watching you in college and you were super inspirational. Going into my third year; my first two years were really hard. This series is giving me hope again. A little nervous and I don’t really have much money to get my classroom together, but there’s still so much left from the previous teacher, and I believe a little organization and declutter will do a world of wonders. Prayerfully this is a better year!

My first day is usually spent just figuring out where I want furniture and then staring at it for a while😂 This year I cleaned out cabinets so I could better organize my materials and manipulatives because I wanted them to be more accessible in a pinch. It’s been a long few days but the results are worth it.

I have been teaching for 23 years, and my school/curriculum is nothing like yours, so my classroom set up will be very different, yet I enjoy watching your videos. Your tech videos help me, as I am old enough to not like tech in my room, yet your explanations really help me learn how to apply it. And this series, with you setting up your classroom, is fun to watch, as I've always wondered how other people go through the process of creating their classrooms. I look forward to the rest of your videos in this series!

I try to divide my classroom into quadrants and work on each section to prevent feeling overwhelmed. When I first started teaching back in 1992, I drove a motorcycle and could not carry any supplies. Your classroom is already looking very nice. Tip: When you were trying to decide how to cut the fabric on that small board, I would have used a white colored pencil to mark the lines to cut. It would have been easy to drag the pencil along the metal edge to mark the lines. Thankfully our cuts don't have to be precise since border is going to hide the edges. Yours turned out great. Hope you have a great year. I'm so glad you are back in the classroom.

Good morning, Michelle! And welcome back! I think it helps to keep in mind that you need to let your mind run free while you’re doing the first couple of days of set up so that you can get a sense of the space and process the room through several filters. The supercomputer of our minds is constantly evaluating the space we have and how we want to welcome and engage students while we organize for instructional structures. Let’s embrace the excitement and capacity of our minds to transform an empty space into a dynamic home for living and learning.❤ Teachers are AWESOME 💪🏽🫶🏽🫵🏽

For the bottom of the felt - you could use a bit of tailor's chalk (or a white soft pastel pencil) - push the felt in, draw a line where the crease is forming, then cut. Although you did a pretty good job just by eye (I NEVER cut straight by hand... NEVER)
