I recommend doing a class “store” my fifth grade teachers did it, anytime a kid or kids do something king or really good on school work they get a “dollar” (a piece of green paper) then they get to “buy” something every Friday. PS there are different color for different amounts 1=green 5=orange 10=yellow 20=purple. Another PS you could do suckers,pencils etc as 5, larger candy, etc, little toy, trinkets from target dollar section or dollar tree

A tip for fifth grade is some of them get nervous putting there hand up for help so you could give each child a red green and amber card that they can put on the end of there desks so if there fine with the work green, a little stuck (amber) and really stuck (red). Also I know they like personal things so we got like a mental health ball that squeezes and it’s really soft with a personal name on it and it is good for kids with autism or just when the kids are stressed or in a test. If they play with it you can just take it off them but make your own rules up for them. I hope this helped!

@EmmaDraper-sm2ge2 ай бұрын
Hi! I’m also Emma lol. I’m a fifth grader and ik this was 4y ago but I still have some things/tips about fifth graders. First is Fifth graders will do ANYTHING for extra recess and sometimes my teacher does things like finish extra work or having the whole class have a great morning for extra recess time but of course you have to make it a bit advanced because we are all 10/11y olds. Another tip is points. Last year my teacher did all kinds of different points systems. Group points are the best systems which you basically give a few points to groups who are working together well or are all on task. We started with class points but trust me, and I really mean it, trust me, class points are a class meeting danger zone so don’t do them. Which that brings me to class meetings. Fifth graders are growing up and experiencing puberty, real feelings, and insecurities. Class meetings are a great way to let your kids talk about bullies, incidents, feelings, classroom problems, etc. you get the point. My next tip is lunch time. For some kids lunch is a stressful situation. Growing up in a small school I didn’t have this problem, until fourth grade. Fourth grade was super stressful and it was very hard to sit in the loud noises and food throwing (stuff like that.) A great opportunity is a once a week classroom lunch where you can pick a few kids to come in and eat. You can use like coupons are tickets. Which brings me to my next point. Coupons. My fourth grade teacher had coupons for winning table groups every Friday. They can just hand them in when they use them and you can put them up on a board or something. My last tip is about desk setup. The best way to arrange desks during the first quarter is randomized so you can figure out what groups work best by changing it up around 2-4 times in the first quarter. After the first quarter it will be easier to arrange desks in a way where almost all students are comfortable. That’s all I have right now and please like this so she can see because this took me almost an hour to write 😅. What can I say, I’m in writing club. But thank you if you made it this far.
