Switching to the brown border was absolutely the right call. I would personally leave that bulletin board space above the white board empty. It's a good divider as it stands.

For the tiny board you can make it a family board. Have students bring in pictures of their families to show diversity in the class

I love the brown and overall vibe of your room. Looks so neat and clean but also fun. Don’t focus too much on everyone’s opinions…ultimately it’s your classroom. You will see what works for you and your students throughout the year and you can adapt and change as you see fit. You’re doing great!

You can photocopy the border and cut it out to get just a couple more pieces. The spray is just clear matte spray. You can find it in lots of brands. Try not to doubt. You have to stare at your walls all year, so you need to like them.

You are KILLING it for your first year! Way to go! I understand what you mean about the 100s chart fitting so perfectly in that spot. I think it's fine to leave it as is - but I think you should probably have a 100s chart somewhere that is in rows of 10 - number patterns and place value relationships are visible when they are arranged this way.

I don’t think it’s bad for the students to be exposed to other fonts, especially since most fonts we see every day are not the way we teach them to write (letters a and g for example). I personally wouldn’t worry too much about changing the fonts in your room as long as your kinders know to reference the alphabet in the front for letter formation :) (from a fellow kindergarten teacher)

For that small piece of bulletin above your white board, I’d do a quote or do Miss/Mrs. Last names learners (Miss Kaylee’s Learners) or You are Loved, be great do great. Something to just fill the space!!!! So excited to see more content from you! I’m currently going to college to become a teacher!!!

Loove the number posters down below. I'd leave the little board blank. You dont want it to be visually overstimulating. I'd put 'WOW work' as one line with the 4 posters underneath. Center both rows on the board until you have student work to display. Having the title in 2 rows takes up a lot of space in my opinion. ❤ Great job Kaylee! I agree on the fancy font as a K teacher myself. There are so many themes that have 'groovy/fancy fonts. We need to be intentional with what we have up. Remember: not all walls need to be covered either. That may defeat the purpose of a calm classroom. 😊

I love watching you set up your classroom. It's giving me so many ideas for my room. A suggestion my friend gave me for the WOW wall, if you put mats down in place for your students, when you showcase specific writing examples or assignments, you tack it on the mat, and all the centering is already done. It makes hanging the work easy throughout the year. You are able to pull off and stick right back on. I can't wait to see what you do next!

I really like how you've put the numbers below and the alphabet line above. That whole area looks good! Glad the goo gone worked! I used Dawn Powerwash spray to clean the walls in my classroom last year. Your classroom is coming together nicely.

You are doing an awesome job! In my last classroom (I'm moving classrooms this year), I had one wall that was really messed up. I ended getting 3 blank poster boards from the dollarstore. Then, I stapled my bulletin board paper, borders and the things I wanted to display to them and I put it up with command strips. It was easy to put up and take down. To get rid of the shine, I use the Rust-Oleum brand of the matte clear spray paint.

For the hundreds chart, I wouldn’t take it down. They can practice counting by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s with it laid out that way. Counting by fives can be tricky for them, but the way it’s set up, it’s a nice visual for that!

Good choice on changing the narrow bulletin board border. Looks much better. I like the empty space. Calming. I saw another teacher cover an entire wall like that with better than paper, It looked very nice. I think the 100s chart is ok. Not ideal, but ok. Could you cut it apart and put it back as rows of 10? It's hard to tell on my phone. Matte spray paint to cut the shine. ❤ Your room Is coming together.

I have the alphabet and numbers set up like that in my Kinder classroom. :) It works really well, because the letters are usually a quicker reference but they often need to walk over to the numbers and count the dots before they can recognize them. For the 100s chart, my kids use the colors to count. So, since your 10s are in a white color, you can tell them to count the white ones to go by 10. Plus, if something doesn't work, it's okay because you can always change it in future years. I change stuff all the time in my room for better flow. Also, for the tiny bulletin board, maybe you could do small pictures of book characters in little bubbles, like Clifford, Pete the Cat, etc. Just a cute, fun little area you won't have to worry about. And, for the shiny-ness, I use matte spray!

I like the tan border above the board. It needed something just like that. You could do a quote there even if it hangs over the border some it could be cute :) I like the longer videos.

I love it! I'm going into my third year of teaching. Do not let the opinions of others change you/ your teaching style. My alphabet is also in the same position. They use it and we use the alphabet in so many other hands on ways as well. I think for the wall try to clean it and remove staples first. If that doesn't work, just hang up the display.

Is the hundreds chart meant to be cut and assembled in rows of 10? If it’s a TPT product it probably had to be designed in rows of 5 in order to be printed on a standard printer. I’d say change it because the rows of 10 are going to be more common as they progress through other grades and you can give them that foundational skill. If you don’t change it, you could treat it as a ten frame - maybe use it to count to the 100th day of school? Love your videos so far! Excited to see more from your first year!

I would leave that space empty at least for now! You can have the students make something to put up there. Sometimes its also good to make a K room not super overwhelming and hang up things that are meaningful to the students instead of hanging things just to take up space. The less overstimulating can be better.

Some ideas for the narrow bulletin board above your whiteboard: student names in ABC order, school motto or class traits (ex. "we work hard, we play hard"), number line, months of the year, colour words, etc.

I think the alphabet looks great the way you have it. I also like the brown border that you changed for that skinny bulletin board, it actually helps to tie in some of the colors form your alphabet and number posters in. Loving the colors of your decor!

Love your classroom & you’re crushing the classroom set up vlogs 💕💕 I am the worst at actually using my bulletin boards mainly because I don’t like how busy it looks with things on them lol so if you leave the super thin one blank I think that’s totally fine!! If you wanted to put something you could put student pictures or have them color / decorate their names and put little name cards up there 🤷🏻‍♀️

2:00 I have that border in my classroom it is amazing FWI: at the end of the school year be really careful if you plan on having the same theme next year it tears really easily but it looks amazing on the bulletin boards I might buy some for my bulletin board for next year cause I think I'm gonna have that same theme also where did you get your stuff it looks AMAZING! Also if you want small group games for your class I recommend TPT it's amazing how much stuff you can get for like 2 dollars most of my stuff is free and it's amazing how many years I have used it.

Way back when I was teaching 1st grade, there was research that said not to put things up high for the little students because their eye muscles haven't developed enough to see well when looking up that high. 🤷‍♀️

You are doing a great job. I think the font is fine on the things you've already done, but you might consider changing the font for anything else you print. I think you should reconsider the 120 chart so that it is in rows of ten. Numbers and patterns are Kindergarten math. I'm pretty sure your curriculum will show rows of ten and you want to make the transition from book to wall easy. I think kinders need to see a whole calendar versus the flip calendar. Again, this shows patterns and sequence. Also, you can count how many days until an event or a birthday. It also supports the concept of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Ultimately it's your decision. You can always make adjustments later once school starts and you see where your kiddos are. Your students are lucky to have you as their teacher!
