The point of contaminating Cottonwood Cove was to make it too hazardous for the Legion to continue attacking, as it was an ideal point for incursions, and one of the few places to safely cross the Colorado. This is justified because it prevents further aggression on the part of the Legion against the people of the Mojave (Novac, for instance), traders (who keep settlements alive) and NCR troops - a bad thing done for a good reason. While it was similar in method, it doesn't compare to a pure act of terror, such as was done to Camp Searchlight.

I spent over 1000 hours on this game over the course of 9 months a few years ago and I smashed this game soo hard to the point where I thought I completed everything exactly 99% to being perfect. The One True Duckson Of War In a way, the legion is justified. Their tactics are cruel, but very effective. They effectively wiped out raiders from their territory and their settlements are very stable when compared to the NCR. Enslaving tribes and other wastelanders gives them a singular purpose.

There was going to be a part where you could go deeper into Legion territory but it had to get cut. Sawyer basically said that there were civilized places that already existed before Caesar; he doesn't treat them like he does the tribals. They're basically "freemen" but if anyone crosses the Legion there are consequences. I wouldn't say its' the best place to live. Probably like occupied France to a degree. Bad comparison but eh.

I'm glad you brought up the Latin pronunciation. I always thought it was odd that Arcade Gannon, a man who is fluent in Latin, would pronounce Caeser as "see-zer" rather than "kai-zar." But it makes sense, and fits with his character, that he would do this intentionally to piss off the Legion and those loyal to him. Sidenote: I'd love to see you do a profile of Arcade at some point. There's a lot to delve into in terms of how he views different factions; his hatred of being associated with the Enclave, his distrust of both NCR and the Brotherhood (due to his ties with the Enclave), and of course, his hatred of the Legion. As a gay man myself, I also feel like there's something that could be said about how these factions view homosexuality and how this could further contribute to Arcade's feelings of paranoia.

I think the next Fallout game you should be able to build up your own army and become good or bad for the game. Not like how you join the NCR, Brotherhood, Railroad, Institute, Legion, or even Miniutemen and become the general etc and rank up to the top. I mean, control an army, so even if you kill your own, you don't get attacked by your own etc. Like the original founder of your army you made. Sort of like how you can part with Raiders in Nuka World, but on a wider scale. Take over settlements, build bases anywhere, build them up and build an army. Make the entire world a safezone. Have a map icon where it shows you how much of the land is your territory etc. Think it would be amazing.

Joshua the Legion is "the bad guy". Your actions with them get you bad Karma. I paid plenty attention. I never said The NCR or Mr. House were not bad. But the legion is completely bad. What Legion did was inexcusable because Camp Searchlight wasn't just a military outpost for the assholes in crimson. It was a full-fledged city with civilians depending on its presence. Mr Oxhorn; I like the fact that you explore every avenue and dialogue option in this game because I have quite literally a tendency to Shoot First And ask questions later, if there"s anyone left to pose questions to that is and I guess thats my weakness.I"m a bit more interested in levelling up,not for for levelling up in itself but getting Key skills up to a level where I am not forced to abandon a quest for the forseeable future because my explosives,Science,repair or frickin LOCKPICK Skill (in this case maxed out to 100) was"nt High enough so I go around Exploring and collecting the Magazines that for a few minutes increase a skill to the level necessary. ur doin a great job dude

Huh, I completely the “Left my Heart” quest just because I teamed up with Boone and annihilated the Legionaries stationed at Cottonwood. Had no idea there was some other character involved who could task you with the quest at an NCR refugee camp.

I don't understand how the legion hadn't been destroyed there already, I mean I know the NCR is spread thin and weakened but come on. The Legion is at an extreme tactical disadvantage. They're backed up against a river with with the only possible ways of escape being by boat or further inland. If the NCR were to push the Legionaires further inland from attacks from the South and West, they could create a fatal funnel through the hills and subsequent canyon on the North side of the camp. Not to mention that the NCR would also have the high ground, I feel like all it would take are a handful of veteran and regular NCR rangers and a commander with a lick of knowledge in military tactics. It's kind of shown in the video how easy it is for Oxhorn to pick off the legionaires from the cliff above, an attack from the West and North would push them back to the river, putting their backs against the proverbial wall, and making them easy pickings for a Pincer Maneuver. Just my thoughts at least lol

Oxhorn is an intelligent player character. NCR are AI dumbasses. There's your answer. Their plan of attack would be either: 1. Have a bunch of troops just charge in and get slaughtered 2. Hold a defensive perimeter outside the camp, which would accomplish nothing and most likely get them slaughtered. Yay, go NCR!

The way I saw it was, by clearing the camp you stop them for now but more can follow after, so when I cleared the camp and freed the Weathers I sent the barrels down into it forever making it impossible for the Legion to re-use it, tightening the noose around the Legions path to the Mojave.

Can't bring myself to side with the Legion. My solution here was to kill the Legion manually, release the captives, *then* loose the radioactive barrels to permanently close the camp. Instead of using the Overlook to snipe from, I used the Sniper's Nest further up the hill toward Camp Searchlight. Quite a bit further away, but still worth visiting.
