Great job! Great video! Being born n breed Pennsylvanian im centroid all the way and they have a setup for whatever machine your bringing back from the dead. But a little request.....could you start installing centroids probe and tool setter? We already know that if you strike a good find of an older yet mechanically sound machine tool that we could have our own cnc with probing and tool setters in our garages for half the price of a tormach. Lol ,,,plus we can digitize broken castings that are no longer sold and make our own! And that is why centroud is number 1 in my book! Off topic, at work we have a 1991 Nicolas Correa that we have been changing tools by hand for the last 27 years! It has a head that rotates (A=on 45 degrees) and (B= on 90 degrees) that we have to do manually by lining up the marks we put on with a paint marker! Haha! But its got 200in in X travel , 46in in Y travel , and 50in Z travel witch makes it very universal. Its got a 50hp 50cat geared hi/low spindle , brushless ac servos (HUGE) ! we looked into a control retrofit for 140k but i turned it down because it would not have solved any of the problems I mentioned so otherwise i figured just keep the Hiedenhiem tnc415 control on it till it dies. Lol. (15k for refurbished control ) I wonder if centroid could do something with this machine? It has an encoder for the head to rotate plus-minus 90degrees and one to rotate on 45deg to make it vertical to horizontal , i know it would not be cheap! They paid 700k in 1991 n now its in the 2 million dollar category! Lol ..god i would love a tool changer and a probe and tool setter! Lol.

Post pictures of your machine, close up of the control cabinet, the servo drives and their model number, spindle drive and its model number and any other details. Suggestions can be made on how complex the conversion would be. centroidcncforum.com/viewforum.php?f=64

Nice job on the Kondia. I noticed you are using a Hi/Lo Vise the last time I used one was when I was an apprentice around 1962. The shop owner frowned on hammering the vise handle we had to put our tools on a shop rag to protect the mill table. Some of that has stuck with me to this day. That was a great vise, glad to see they are still around.

It's what came with the machine Wayne. Explain how hi/low works...

Looks great! I need to take this as inspiration, get the lead out and get my machine finished.

can you use the original 40 in lb servo motors instead of the centroid motors ?
@martyscncgarage52753 ай бұрын
Yes you could, but you'll need to make sure you have or fit up 5vdc differential encoders to them

That's a tight machine for sure! Nice accuracy.

Pretty cool Marty, I have that same exact kondia machine that had the old Dynapath control, I had Marc Lenard from cnc Service NW convert it to centroid about 8ish years ago . I also installed the Elrod quill kit so you can use the machine as 2 axis is super nice for quick job-shop work. Its been just a super machine, I have the centroid probing also, Ive done lots of work on it. It has well made profit and paid for itself. Surprised more people dont know about centroid, super reliable and accurate.

Awesome. Marc Leonard is one of the best and most experienced Centroid Reps. He worked for Centroid and helped write PLCs. Worth his weight in gold. cncsnw.com He is fast and fair. The Kondia is on its way across country to its new owner.

I have 4 knee mills in my shop. I would like to see the modifications you made to your pallet jack to frame the machine base between the rails.

I cut on either side of the jack and widened it. Made cradles out of angle iron.

I never thought about the spindle encoder!

No drawbar? There is a hole up there waiting for an encoder to be fitted.

2 videos in one day! I was wondering what happened to this machine. I need to mimic that brake cylinder on my machine. Has the same Ericson spindle.
@martyscncgarage52754 жыл бұрын
pneumatic cylinder....easy to implement. Can't see how you would hold onto the spindle to lock the tool in any other way?
