@garyleewhite Жыл бұрын
I have been all throughout that cave system several times with a crew of three. There was one section, deep down, that I had to use a rope ladder to get down. It was so tight, that I had to exhale all the air in my lungs and slide through quickly until it opened up. That was spooky. The legends say it goes all the way to the sea, but we just could not go that far. I found 3 other caves in that same area but they were not as nice as that one.
@tomoakley760 Жыл бұрын
I'm not a caver, just an armchair idiot, but don't they say never to go through a gap that requires you to fully exhale tp fit through? Something-something "nutty putty incident". What's your thought process as a caver when you make the informed choice to go through a gap like that? Do you have some foreknowledge of the cave's layout that gives you high confidence you can make ot through and back? Or are you basically just hoping you don't get stuck?
@garyleewhite Жыл бұрын
@@tomoakley760 I've always been quite a risk-taker (caving, rock-climbing, ice-climbing, sky-diving, etc.), so I kinda know what I can get away with. This particular incident I felt, well if I can go down, then I should be able to go back up. Once through, I discovered a huge room down there that I don't think anyone else has ever been in.
@tomoakley760 Жыл бұрын

I have two things to say: 1) This is why Junji Ito wrote a horror story about this 2) This is the only scenario I'm glad I'm fat

Same. Fat n proud

Junji Ito's "The Enigma of Amigara Fault" isn't about caving, it's about a mountain side that somehow produced deep mystical holes that entices people to go through them. It doesn't tackle the activity of caving but yes the premise of claustrophobia is there.

You’re glad you’re fat so you could get stuck in a scenario like this?

@@TopazBeast No, I'm glad I'm fat so I can't get into this type of caves.

Imagine arriving to the bottom of this cave, then you would get extremly fat for no reason.

Would you actually believe that this was a thing for a field trip for children? I was on a fieldtrip back in hs and there was a part on the trip where we all had to go through something like this. You could barely move, imagine like being a snail wiggling side to side to cross lying on the ground face up. The belief was that once you pass through it would help cleanse your soul. Lol some bs

The last thing I’d want to hear in a narrow, deep cave with multiple “paths” is “I’m sorry, I lied”
