Why are people comparing this to the Novation Summit ? It seems to me that they are two completely different beasts...both have their strong and weak points. Go to a store that carries both with a good pair of noise reduction headphones, and try them both. I played the Summit for awhile, and it sounded great. But for hands down beautiful acoustic sounds, and the ability to manipulate them seamlessly, the Nord stands out. AND...you have access to the vast Nord sample library. You really have to play one to appreciate how truly beautiful it is, and what it has to offer. So, go to a larger store that carries both....play them...and see what sparks your emotions. I love my Wave !!

Yes you're right...Indeed. I think only because they have similar prices and as hybrid synth with wavetable and FM...
Thanks for this video, really well done. I just wanted ask if you've noticed any polyphony issues with the Wave 2?

Hi Soulkeys If you could have just one, would you get the wave 2 or summit? (Just one, and not adding an electro or anything in the future, just one keyboard for a very long time) Thanks very much

@@Fallingoverbackwards - if acoustic and electric pianos, organs are more important i would definitely go for Nordstage. The nord piano library doesn't work with NW

Which instrument do u prefer, or consider better? Nord wave 2 or Novation Summit? Im in need of lots of ambient/texture/pad presets and also wanna go to the stage with it using as a piano/organ, etc, so which one is more versatile without losing quality?
@Synthboutique3 жыл бұрын
More versatile is perhaps the nord wave because of its sample engine. But for ambient, texture, pads ect. You should check out the #hydrasynth...

Hello! Does this synthesizer have acoustic piano sounds? ... are they as good as Nord stage or Nord electro? ... is it worth buying if you want a synth, but at the same time a keyboard to play pop-ballads with a good sound of piano?...
@Synthboutique2 жыл бұрын
Hi, it has Acoustic Piano sounds but not the same piano library like nordstage and electro. You can use pianos from the sample library 3.0 - www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-libraries/nord-sample-library-30

I'm selling my Summit for this. Summit is definitely more powerful but it also has plenty of frustrating bugs which doesn't seem the case here. To be honest I think Summit is more interesting synth than Wave 2 but I don't want to worry about my instruments doing weird stuff when I'm playing them.

definitely summit, because then you can add #clavianordelectro or #clavianordlead later...;-)

For those undecided between the Peak/Summit or this one, I say listen to both and decide for yourselves. But I had both Peak and Nord Wave 2, and Peak sadly became uninspiring after a while. The Wave 2 is very flexible. It's literally like having four synths in one package. My only criticism is that sample instruments don't sound as good as on my Electro 6. I don't really know why, but the same samples sound more crisp and lively on the Electro. But the Wave 2 is great for everything else. You can create beefy pseudo analogue sounds using the four engines with analogue wave forms, or create a great sounding FM piano, o both or whatever you want. Peak was too "well-behaved" and although this one is not as wild sounding as old Nord Leads, it can produce excellent screaming patches. This is maybe the only performer synth you need.

Sorry guys, this keyboard does absolutely the same things a used JV 2080 does for 300.-€.
@Xul4 жыл бұрын
The JV had FM, VA and Wavetable synth? And extensive layering capabilities? You realize that this video here only presents the sample engine?!
@orangenotviolet4 жыл бұрын
Xul, yes of cause. The Wave is a pretty conservative mix of Sound generations. The FM is extremely limited and the wavetables Clavia uses are boring. I've owned a lot of Clavia synths and I still use a Electro6 and a NL4 in my Studio. Buying a Clavia Synth always gives me the feeling like: oh they could have included this feature easyly, but they keep it for the next version. The Wave Sounds are boring to me , without any experimental approach.
@Xul4 жыл бұрын
@@orangenotviolet Ahh that sounds much more reasonable then. Yeah, your are right in many aspects and it's understandable if you have owned other Clavia synths already. And some of the "cheaping out" approaches are quite annoying on Clavia's side. I mean: I can live with the stingy 1Gig, but the I/O is a joke for a proper synth at that price range. But with regards to the synthesis you have to look at the Wave2 for what it is: It just isn't meant to be a digital monster on Iridium/Quantum levels with a full ProphetX section and the Nord Stage sample section - though this would be the perfect synth ;) Instead it is an extremely flexible allrounder with a strong focus on immediate accessibility and actual playing. And in that category it is a very well-rounded synth. That's precisely why I've steered towards the Nord Wave 2 instead of opting for (just another) specialized alternative like the ASM Hydrasynth (which will be probably added later on anyways, I know that I'm too weak to resist) or a Prophet. Piano was covered with my RD2000, "fooling around" was covered with BassStation 2, Buzzy and Digitakt but some convenient allrounder-synth was missing after my old M50 died a second time (repaired the capacitors once but I would have to do it again and it is getting annoying; also the Korg doesn't have a convenient workflow). In the search for a new synth I just realized that I just like *the idea* of fiddling around for interesting stuff but if I'm honest to myself I'm easily turned off in my enthusiasm when there are slight obstacles (i.e. menu diving). So after I while I settled for the Wave 2 as a much more "pragmatic" option - especially since I could get it much cheaper and could simply buy a cheap Blofeld as a Wavetable companion (when I'm in the mood for menu diving).
@borispradel10373 жыл бұрын
Nah, I just sold my Fa08 to get this and although the Roland has way more features, it gets very boring after some time. You can do whatever you want with this synth, it 's more than just virtual analogue, it's maybe because of that that people find it boring. However, if you use just the synth part, you can create very dynamic and original patches. Besides creating and loading your own samples is dead easy.

I want to know how the keyboard feels to play. If anyone could compare the feel of the Nord keybed to the Novation Summit keybed that would be most helpful.
@Synthboutique4 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you play and like…Clavia uses the highest quality waterfall keyboard from Fatar (Fatar TP 8) available on the market. Novation also has a very nice synthesizer keybed…
