Michael doesn't seem to realize just how rigged that block game is. It's designed so that if it hasn't made enough money yet, it will literally move the last block off the stack, even if you perfectly timed it. And with claw games, even though most people knows this, the machine usually will not have the gripping strength to hold anything until it's made money. If you miss on its strong grab, it still resets.

The trick with claw machines is to get the claw tips through specific geometry and use gravity and the weight of the object to generate the grip on the object. After a few tries, you can get a feel for the spin pattern on the claw and anticipate its final orientation when it reaches the bottom. I personally avoid entirely enclosed boxes unless I can see gaps around the tab seal that I can get a prong into.
