On the drop thumb riff you show us at 5:08 onwards is ALWAYS finger thumb finger thumb finger thumb alternating? Or can you have two fingers in a row hitting a pair of notes and can you have two thumbs in a row hitting notes?

Yes in it's most basic form you could if you broke up the stream of eight notes by leaving a note out.
