I grew up bounding between Poland and Canada and the difference in crayons was so interesting. When I was little (early 90s) there were almost no other options than Bambino in my little Polish city. I was so fascinated by how sophisticated they seemed. Yet all my friends there were so fascinated by the wide array of colors and types of my Crayola imports. When I took Bambino to Canada, there my friends and I couldn't get enough of "shading" using the pencil rubbings. I feel lucky to have experienced both.

When I was in the 1st or 2nd grade, a big thing in my class was collecting a bunch of crayon shavings in one of those see through pencil sharpeners that the school sold in the school store. It started with kids just slowly accumulating shavings over a few weeks until one day, suddenly everyone was spending their free time just constantly sharpening crayons. The funny thing was that we never actually did anything with them. Once the sharpener was full or the colors weren’t interesting anymore, we’d either dump it out or just buy a brand new sharpener and start over 😂
