Evan Hafer, Jarred Taylor and Tyr Symank host Major General (Ret.) Clay Hutmacher. Clay served over 40 years in the military, most of his career was spent as a leader as an Army Special Operations Aviator. He commanded at every level during his three tours with the 160th SOAR. Clay discusses his career in the military and his current mission as the President and CEO of Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
SOWF provides the surviving children of fallen special operations personnel the tools and funding needed to pursue and complete their post-secondary education goals.

I love the General’s attitude and personality. He’s so down to earth and chill. Definitely can tell he started out enlisted.

Lastly, in Korea I would arrive at the gym around 4:50am, General H would be almost done his workout. Completed a Spartan race at 32 yrs service in Korea, which for many much younger servicing couldn’t complete. Gen H was/is a beast

Great interview. I was one of Clay Hutmacher's NCOs / Crew Chiefs in 2nd Flight Platoon TF160, although I served for and with many great leaders in the 160th Clay was among the best. In your interview he was absolutely true to form, he always gave us our marching orders to prepare for whatever we were doing and trusted and expected us to accomplish the tasks and meet up for the briefings and execution... He was always interested in everybody's input, No micro managing. Definitely my favorite time on active duty.

I love Clay. Leadership by walking around is one of the easiest ways to improve morale and efficiency in an organization and has been ignored by all but one of the roughly 30 CEOs I've been employed under (I'm a welder by trade). Clay proves even 2 hours a week has a huge impact

This guy is awesome. I love the story when he walks down and talks to some kid and wants to know what he could make better in the battalion. That's Awesome, this guy should get into Politics. Imagine having Politicians that listen to the people they represent and actually make the change that's wanted and needed.

I really like this General. He is really one of those people that comes along at the right time in history. Devine intervention, I really believe thats a thing. I also like the whole idea, enlisted, and warrants can get in and stay in this special ops unit most of their career as long as they maintain high proficiency and put out. Shark Tanked would be a thing too, I could probably be a contestant- lol.

A-6s with CBU-59s fubared many Iranian torpedo boats and corvettes in 88! I remember my Fourth grade teacher talking about the standoff and what was happening but the press didn't cover the strikes or missions, just showed burning Iranian ships afterwords.

Newbe to your podcast. This said started with Eric Hafer letting it be known didn't care for General Officers. Thought was joking but obviously he's serious. Regardless, Gen. Hutchamer deserves respect as a guest. Hafer looked disinterested and seldom made eye contact with Hutchamer. A distant look showed rude behavior...disappointing at best. Enjoy BFCC "Coffee or Die', coffee and shirts. Happy for your sucess. Man up Hafer and be a decent host.

Tried desperately to talk the AF into restarting Warrant Officers while stationed at the pentagon...without success. It would solve so many problems. WOs in missile silos, UAVs, helicopters, would release a lot of officers to do other work.
