Thx! How do you fire the slabs standing up? Tips for keeping the slabs from warping?

You can stack on on small stilts and stack them on top of each other asymmetrically to increase air flow. Or lean then vertically against some shelf stilts, just make sure they don’t domino over! I think they also sell some kiln furniture designed for firing tiles

If the initial slab is 1/2 inch and you are adding pieces that are another 1/2 inch, isn't that too thick to fire without exploding?

Not at all! Clay explodes due to moisture, not thickness. As long as you give it enough time to dry (and I recommend a preheat/candling before firing) you’ll be good to go. Oh, and slabs fire best standing up and not flat. 💛
