Good advice. With the hearing protection - good over ear is always better than in ear. Passive (non electrical) in ear plugs are really good for what they do but top tip when fitting the in ear plugs- with clean fingers pre roll the plug as described in the video and with the opposite hand reach over your head and pull up on the top of your ear, this straightens the ear canal and makes gentle insertion of the rolled ear plug easier, whilst holding the ear plug in (with the tip of your finger) release the top of your ear and wait until the ear plug expands into the shape of your ear canal for a good fit. After 10 or so seconds the ear plug should have expanded, formed a good seal and can be released.

Josh didn't mention the brand name of the shooting eyewear for the basic kit. They're Evolution and the model is Rapide.

Why are Pilla and Castellani glasses so expensive compared to Evolution? Is there something I am missing?

The technology, the various colour schemes, and the quality have a part to play in the price of eye wear as well as any other equipment

So, as a high prescription(-12), short eyesight shooter, it is so hard for me to find a good pair of shooting glasses or goggles 😢

If you’re in the UK, go and speak with Ed Lyons, he can sort you out with prescription pair.

I think a good pair of glasses that help you see the clay properly is the one area you shouldnt try to save money. I invested in some years ago and it really changed the way i shoot.

@@Chris_P_Bacon0788they are nice glasses, but your looking at least 400/500 quid!

Those pilla goggles are far to expensive, Evolution are better I think! I also have used DP 90 oil for years its as good as any gun oil and £ 8.00 for a 750ml tin .

Why do people always skip over discussing eye pro and prescription glasses - even people who wear glasses themselves? As far as I am aware, there isn’t really a budget friendly answer?

A budget friendly option we would suggest are the evolution eyewear, I personally have and use a set of these shooting glasses with prescription inserts, there are various options available at different price points

There’s a perception that clay shooting is expensive…it’s not. It’s as cheap or expensive as you want to make it. You can either buy a £200 gun or £5000 gun, cheap cartridges or expensive cartridges, shoot a couple of times a week or a couple of times a month….

Saying that a hobby isn't expensive because you can do it infrequently isn't the best argument bud. I could just as easily say that gold isnt' expensive because you can just buy really small amounts of it. Clay shooting is very expensive if you want to take it even semi-seriously; even the cheapest carts run at nearly 30p a shot, clay grounds are charging anywhere between 40-60p a shot, and when you add your petrol on top of it you're easily looking at £75-80 for a 100 clay session. It's an absurd amount of money for what is an extremely sterile activity.
