Qualifying Saturday started out great we ran low ET in Q3. We were.05 quicker than than the second quickest car. Q4 started even better but a quick wisp of tire smoke turned into parts failure. Then it let the smoke out unfortunately. #automobile #racing #broken

Absolutely awesome to meet you Clay!! It was my first time to any NHRA event and it couldn't have been a better experience. Thank you for taking the time to sign my hat and take a picture with me. Awesome driving out there. Can't wait to see you race again!

It's amazing how close the racing is in Top Fuel right now. It's even more amazing that .006 is "a lot" faster for low ET. 300 mph is 440 feet per second, which means .006 of a single second is 2.6 feet. Thank you so much for the great content!

I think your maths here is a little off. The margin was nearly 6 hundredths and not 6 thousandths. The margin was 0.059 seconds or just under 26 feet 1 whole car length, car = 25 feet or 300 inches.

1975 to 78, I'm sure one of those times when I went to SIR, they had many nighttime drag races. I remember 1 year we're in the motor home section and the fence got knocked down and we were literally standing on the guardrail when the funny cars went by ,and they couldn't see we were down there because it was too dark. That's a true story.

😊Clay l just really appreciate your willingness to keep us in touch with your world. SIR is not a particularly good track. It used to be terribly bumpy at the end of the run, and it ran up hill. Back in the 70’s it was known for not being a “legal” track. Don’t know much about that now.

Being hotter and FEELIN' hotter are two distinctly different things, ... and technically, being "closer to the Sun" would actually make it COOLER (not hotter), as each 1000' above sea level the atmosphere is 3 degrees cooler, all things being equal. Jus' sayin'. Love your videos, Clay!

Was watching/listening while makin' some food. Looked away post-burn out, glanced quickly b4 pre-stage...(about 3:52)... then about broke my neck lookin' again. The glare makes it look like there's snow everywhere, except on the track. Makes it look like you're racing in the snow & it's normal as anything. Wild. Re: feels hot Oregon boy, here. The NW doesn't have high humidity when it's hot like in the southeast, east & south. We have high humidity in the winter, but it's cold so nobody notices. It never gets sticky or feel like a wet blanket's been thrown on ya, but the sun has a bite. The only place I've found to have the same kind of bite to the sun is Florida in thr summer months, but FL has killer humidity, so you don't notice the bite unless you're looking for it. NW days when it gets above 95⁰ can feel like there's a weight on you from the sheer intensity of the sun. But it's not oppressive like 80-90% humidity & 95⁰. When I was working, more acclimated & in better condition, I could work all day out in the sun, no problem; can't do that in the east/south. Never could get acclimated to the Florida summers, thank gawd most of the club houses in the Florida State League had AC. Though I was working as an Athletic Trainer in FL & not pounding nails or turning wrenches in Fl, either... Gotta say, the low humidity during NW summers mskes it a nice place to come play in the water, w/ cars (side bys) & makes camping a dream... You should come partake, you'll quickly see why Oregon's been called God's Country for several hundred years. Keep on pushin' Clay

Hi Clay! The reason it feels so hot is because of the humidity (Seattle is quite humid). Humidity can make temperatures feel hotter because it makes it harder for sweat to evaporate from the skin. When sweat evaporates, it takes heat energy from the body, which helps cool it down. In humid conditions, however, there's more water in the air, making it harder for sweat to evaporate into that water. This means the body has to work harder to cool itself, and the result is that it feels warmer.

I understand there is a lot to owning a track but every time a team loses an engine or something else that is a lot of money as well. With the revenue generated by an NHRA event it would seem that the track owners would correct these issues as they are a safety hazard in my opinion. Also it would seem the NHRA would also be having conversations with these track owners as well. Everyone is aware of witch tracks these are. Maybe the team owners should voice their concerns as well. Just saying. Respectfully

Washington State get's what the weather Channel calls HEAT DOMES which can last for days or weeks in the summers. Weird, but I remembered it, because it was the first time I was hearing these terms like that. The other was a Bomb Cyclone that they get in the north in the winters. My wife is a weather Junkie. Damn channel is on all the time it seems lol. Looked like you hit a bump in the camera at the finish, but I doubt that was it because you know bumps...Jim did GREAT in that track temp!!
