Lord have mercy its great to be an Operating Engineer. This is the stuff we run, maintain, and monitor. It's fun, its educational, its what gets you up at 5 am, pull your shift, and go home. there are good Engineers and there are some dog's lunches. But when you get to work with a bunch of devoted people whom make this stuff run correctly and efficiently. Man oh man its a career. Not many people know about Operating Engineers, its becoming a lost craft. But folks, this is what its all about.

Impressive! What a machine and building! Thanks for sharing it with us!! It's amazing what the engineers could come up with before the days of the computer!

There are four engines. This is the last to be returned to operation over a thirty year period.

Would you please show the operation of the valve gear during start-up and after all of the painting, etc has been done?

Was that wood pellets they were stoking the boiler with before somebody brought in coal?
@HeritageVideosbyJSouthward Жыл бұрын
Yeah there eco wood pellets basicly compressed saw dust they smelt like the pellets used in pet cages, they were running the end boiler on them and the next boiler on the coal. Both kept up pressure and the steaming rate was around the same.
