My Thinkpad w530 i7 with 16gb RAM running windows 10 is a real workhorse, AND the thing is almost 10 years old! 😎👍

Hook up the second monitor, go to the bottom right of your screen and click on the note pad beside the clock, click on (project), then choose what you want to do with the second screen. Let me know how it went.

Great tutorial. Thank you. I have w530 for 8yrs and I think it’s time for an upgrade after watching this vid. My first priority would be upgrading the ram from 8 to 32. My first question is where did you buy the ram and do you think 32 would make a big difference instead of 16? I do some architectural renderings. Tia

Rendering take a lot of ram, I added affiliate links to all the parts I used. 16G of ram may be ok, try it first, if it works ok then you are good. for more info check out part 2,3, and 4 about the W530. Thanks for watching

I still have mine it still works the battery is not the best right now but it runs modernized games like gta5 and forza 5 and snow runner

I was having trouble running Davinci Resolve (it only has 4 cores in the processor, DaVinci wants 6 cores). I picked a 10 core laptop and use the W530 as a spare, a good spare.

would there be a issue if you left 2x4gb ram in two of the slots and installed the 2x8gb ram in the other slots even if they are different could they still work together? i have heard people have some issues with certain ones stating its the voltage of the ddr3l ram that can be the issue i think the ram you cited being 1.35V was what forums were saying is the right type

It should not be a problem, I would install the 2x8gb under the keyboard and the 4gb in the back of the laptop. If you find an instability problem it will be easy to remove or want to upgrade later to another 2x8gb it will also be easier. Thanks for watching

My W530 fan just died. The machine will not even boot with a "Fan Error." at post. Is there a good replacement fan I should consider?

I would just google it, I did and came up with the complete assembly on Amazon. ( amzn.to/3ZHY9n3 ) Affiliate link. But you just need the fan, good luck on the repair.

Hey There, I have a Thinkpad W530 . I am not able to connect it to a secondary display. It works when i enable the NVIDIA graphic card, howe ver the laptop gets struck and malfunctions. When I disable the graphic card, it fails to connect to secondary display. I use Windows 10. Anyone who can help me fixing this issue? I saw some folks in Lenovo community suggesting to change few lines of code in Linux machines and it worked for them. But am not able to find a solution in internet. Pls help !!!

I am using a VGA cable and it works flawless. I set it up so it has two separate displays (24" Samsung monitor and the laptop).
