If appliance or air conditioner "clean filter" light stays on and won't turn off, and the filter is not dirty, then reset the electrical power supply by unplugging then plugging it back in. A power surge might be the cause.

Thank you for your video. I just pushed both up and down arrows under filter reset, which is under the temp box. Worked like a charm. Clean filter light is OFF.

I don't have anything that new for the apartment life.. I just checked mine and both need to be cleaned at least once a month. But I also run in the bedrooms a 20 inch box fan on medium speed with a HEPA filter behind it to help reduce dust in the air and I'm also able to keep the air conditioner not running all the time. Maybe I can just make a small video sometime this week to show everybody.. great video keep up the great work and keep using hashtags.. they help bring in more viewers.. #Summer2018 #DyiHack #StayCool

Looks to me like you just need to push both the up and down buttons for the temp as it says right on the unit. These ac units dont automatically detect that the filter is dirty...the light is just a reminder to do so and you have to reset it.

I have a portable Frigidaire the reset on the plug didn’t work. But pressing and holding the status light for 5 to 10 seconds did the trick. Is it asking to much for them to put it in the manual?

@awesomestuff88194 жыл бұрын
Check the user manual to see if I am right or not but you shouldn't plug in the AC to a surge protector. AC requires more than other household appliances and probably combined with other electrical devices on the surge protector, it will exceed the maximum load. Just a recommendation. Again, double-check if this is right.
@dhemphill2329 Жыл бұрын
There is a 'surge' protector plug built into the cord of the AC unit which the presenter is referring to. You are probably thinking of the common 3-6 plug cord with a single surge protector, and in general you are correct that a single AC would most likely be about the only thing which should be on a single 20 A circuit, although my calculations seem to indicate even a 12000BTU unit should only draw about 13-15 A during continuous operation. This may not account for instantaneous electrical draw when the compressor starts during fan operation. It appears that Toshiba has purposely built the filter light to require a power disconnect to reset the filter light once it has been set by what ever means. Unfortunately, in the case of the Toshiba RAC-PT1412HVWRU, which I own, the manufacturer failed to even deal with this light in the users manual, other than a drawing of the face of the control panel. And while they mention several error codes starting with 2 letters plus XX the only code they deal with is P1. It appears the company may have dropped some documentation between the bottom of page 9 and the top of page 10, or somewhere else in that general vicinity. At any rate the presenters video is spot on and confirmed for me what the problem was and that anytime that light comes on I need to check the filter and then disconnect/reset the electrical connection to turn the filter light off.

So I live in a very small bedroom because I moved back in with my parents for the time being under certain circumstances. They ended up giving me a small A.C. it is a Haier came with a remote control etc it even magnetizes where ever you want to put it on the A.C. I thought that was pretty cool. So I have an issue with the clean filter blinking after I cleaned out the filter and also took the face off the unit to get a deeper wipe down which it did need. My mother and step father are not the brightest when it comes to technology and or maintenance. They do try their best to do the basic fundamentals if possible. They usually ask my siblings and it myself to set up anything and or fix things. I decided to do a cleaning before first use in bedroom. I believe it was claimed that they have never cleaned it other then the typical air filter that slides out from time to time. So yes.....it definitely needed some loving. I cannot remember if light was blinking first initial day or so of use. I believe I did not notice anything out of ordinary. This blinking light to clean air filter I believe may have started day 3 which is today. This could be do to my bedroom itself tripped a circuit at some point last night before I fell asleep super early at 8 pm.....it is rare for me to fall asleep that early. Well couple hours or so give or take prior to going to bed that is when my power strip tripped itself and I had to press the reset button to allow everything back to normal. I am surprised it was just my room itself.....so for a unfortunately small room I have only one power outlet. Only have one thing plugged into it and that is my power strip and everything else is plugged into it. All I was currently drawing up power with was my 55 inch QLED quantum dot display, my Xbox one X which I was watching netflix on, and the A.C. unit itself. I perhaps could have just plugged the unit in the 2and plug that is unoccupied in power outlet as oppose to the power strip itself because I believe this unit has a bulky plug with the option of reset etc so I would assume that is used in case of any power trips aka surges. I do not think I pressed reset know the A.C. plug at all to my memory just the power strip itself. Hopefully this is why due to the blinking light for cleaning filter??? I probably should have checked before posting this but hopefully me posting this experience will allow everyone to see common experiences or exact experience themselves in order to potentially see if this is the situation at hand. I am about to press the reset button on the unit's plug and not the power strip. I will reply back whether it has worked or not.

I thought power strip / surge protector protects from power surge lightning?
@scobrado3 жыл бұрын
@@p1nesap Good point. They could protect an AC unit. The joule rating to protect a modest AC would be 1000 joules or more (that's that surge absorbtion rating and more than is needed to protect lighter loads like TVs). That would be a pretty big strip. Smaller ACs will run 5 A or more. Not exceeding the current rating of the strip is the most important thing. Lots of fires start from cheap melted plastic strips.

Reset button does not reset the filter light on my GE. None of the temp or blower speed buttons change any of the settings. I want to go back to non computer electronics with basic on off buttons that allow it to do what I set it to do & a computer board is not interfering. I hate modern electronics.
