Dang it…I was kinda hoping to find out there’s this wasp that stings it and implants a larva that eats the brown recluse from the inside out. I know there’s one that does this to red ants. Texas A&M did a study on this and figured out a way to target specific red ant nests without it being broad stroke killing (has its own consequences).

Cap’n… those cans had to be Church Key opened… Pop tops didn’t come out until about 1975. If they are steel cans that would make them even older… pre 1970. Were they steel? It’s tough to stop hoarding… I still haven’t sworn off. Perhaps we are watching the first step in your 12 Step process??? This is fascinating… I love the forensic work you’ve doing!!!

We live about 40 miles from Ellsworth AFB, home of th B!. They do practice bombing in the Powder River Basin in Wyoming. Often they will fly over where you can hear them but not see them. It's a most distinctive sound. But once in a while they come by low. The sound is INCREDIBLE. Love it.

That green wall covering looks like ideal truck seat repair covering if you had a way to save it. I would add LED lighting to your mobile work bench on one or more corner posts and a hook to hang a long extension cord so you could have good light wherever you roll it. You can't have enough light above a work bench. You've probably already thrown out the material for a good tall work bench stool with a back. My father was a sheet metal worker and welder (I know you aren't but can fake it) and he made a couple and welded them up. I still have one at my work bench. One man's trash is another man's raw material. (that green stuff would be great to cover a seat) You just have to be inventive and innovative. You are that but we will give you ideas.

Mike that 3/4 sheet of particle board is very heavy and makes a good bench top. Back when I worked in a lumber yard in 1973, we sold a bunch of that stuff. I was 4 ft 6 inches tall and 96 lbs. trying to help load them into a truck. Not fun. They probably used the osb for covering because it was cheap at the time. Not so much now. Great content, keep it up.

'Pop' comes from the term 'Soda Pop' that describes the sound on opening a bottle of carbonated beverage. In the United States, "soda pop", "soda", and "pop" are commonly used, but "pop" is mostly associated with the Midland states. In the South, people often call it "Coke".

The oak arch you drilled through had no rot. It was plenty solid. Looks to me like a couple pieces of all-thread, bolts and fender washers on inside and outside then torque it up and the problem is solved. That's all you need to suck those laminations back together. Before you would add more laminations, you'd have to pull the original together anyhow. Likely moisture over the years caused the glue to fail. Waterproof glue was uncommon and very expensive in the 60's. Now it's everywhere. I'll bet these gothic arches were laid up with regular old school Elmer's white glue. If you find some have rot at the bottom, you can deal with those as they come. And there won't be any bend to speak of in the bottom 12 -16 inches. 😊 Easy fix 👍

Hi Mike, hate to talk trash about someone else's tools, but if you want an impact driver that will drive screws all day long, pick up a new 18 volt Milwaukee impact driver, you will never regret it. I used to have only Dewalt tools and I have replaced all of them with Milwaukee, best move i ever made. Keep up the good work, I am absolutely amazed that you have been able to raise the roof as well as you have.👍👍

The brand doesn't matter, it's the size. If it's. 1/4" impact, it's going to burn up driving 10" timberloks through oak over 500 times. It needs to be a bigger tool. 3/8 at the minimum.

I felt your pain as you found/defined your own line …then was tempted, re-tempted, and ultimately probably still crossed it (talking about the ceiling support). I had an electric garage door opener in my barn for the longest time and although I knew that I likely wouldn’t use it personally, neither did I find someone to take it…much less buy it. Several socialized the possibility of using it when [fill in the blank]. Seems that when they approached their actual need, they each wanted (or were told they wanted) new-new… not my older, never used new. It was a bit awkward to store it and eventually, it went to the dump 😞 when my son bought the property and barn.

Looking good! It’s clear to me you have a grasp on structural design but I’d like to suggest permanent cables as collar ties. The design of this structure is going to perpetually result in outward lateral pressure on the supporting structure. Just a few cables installed would help mitigate this even moreso than the buttresses in my opinion. They could be installed higher than the ones you have now and I’d prefer to see them like every third truss but I also realize that puts a damper on the basketball. Perhaps every five trusses with shorter/higher collar ties twice in between each of those. Anyway good luck and keep it comin!

This was a most enjoyable video. I appreciate your speaking to us the exact thoughts on your mind as you pick up items. I call this " The Sanford Decision Process". I just laughed at the difficulty you have at deciding to keep or toss. Creative people all have this problem. I think you should sit down with a favorite beverage and possibly a good cigar and watch this video without any distractions. Ask yourself " realistically, what needs to be done here?" At this point in your life you have boundless energy, dreams and ideas. But look at the future and what is the long term goal. I am 78 years old and this video reminded me me of myself at your age. Since I retired, I struggle with getting rid of all of the stuff I have accumulated. We all have to deal with it or when we die your spouse of family will gave to deal with it. Keep up the good work, I find your videos a great procrastination tool to making decisions!

I spent today working near Camp Atterbury, and they had 2 c130s out. Never gets old watching big planes pulling tight turns.

You're definitely making good changes. Saving BTU's on the outdoor shop. Since you didn't use a loader that could've been there. You should've called Mike and Aaron to come watch and throw shade and funny comments at you while you strained!

Really interesting to see how the frame for the corrugated sheets fixed to the concrete wall, am really glad the blocks were filled with concrete if they hadn't been I think that building would have fallen over by now. It's going to be a brilliant space for your world headquarters 👍

Growing up a military brat and having served myself, I miss seeing and hearing the planes taking off and landing on an Air Force base. We have a National Guard unit in our town but it's Army so the most I occsionally get to hear is one of their heavy choppers when they are doing the monthly or summer exercises. It's nice, but not the same as hearing a fighter kick in the afterburners. The sarcasim dripping from your lips when pulling the astroturf off the wall was el primo, 🤣. Gymdominium is looking better and better inside as you clean it up. 👍
