Watco has teamed with Medha to offer zero-emission switching locomotives. Converting old diesel units to battery power means cleaner air, money saved on fuel and maintenance, and much more.

Just build an actual electric locomotive that uses a pantograph and overhead cantenary wires instead of a stupid battery locomotive.

This would cost a ridiculous amount of money, that's why there isn't already overhead wiring. A more reasonable option is hydrogen fuel cells, which is more sustainable and efficient than battery power.

I disagree electric locomotives are cheaper to build and have triple the horsepower then hydrogen and battery locomotives. They have faster acelaration and don't need to recharge.

@@bennettgibson7287 The catenary system would be way to expensive to build just for yard operations. Pantographs will break without warning. When that happens, catenary gets pulled down thus disrupting switching operations. Which means ticked off customers. And if the electric switching operations is on the grid, that creates another disadvantage if an outage occurs.
