It’s not so much the cleaning part I love, it’s waking up to a clean kitchen, walking past my room and seeing a made bed, and overall living and moving within a clean and tidy home that’s truly motivating. It’s a gift we give ourselves! Inviting guests over is also the BEST incentive to get things extra clean ✨

Also, I totally hear what you’re saying about doing the best with what you’ve got (apartment wise). I love when our apartment is reset and clean, but it is old and there is plenty around it that needs upgraded and fixed up once my husband and I move out one day. Sometimes it really bothers me that our place doesn’t look as aesthetically pleasing as we often see on Pinterest or in other KZbin videos, but you know what, my apartment is clean, decluttered, and full of love and good memories and that is truly the kind of home I want to live in. All we can ever do is our best with what we have been given!

I LOVE to clean. My mom taught me early on that your home is your safe space. It's the one place you can retreat to and it should always provide comfort. For her and now me, that is expressed through keeping it clean, organize, and paying all the bills on time! 😄

I think you're already doing a lot better compared to previous videos in keeping your apartment in a general state of tidiness. You mentioned so often how you struggle with it so i really wanted to let you know that I see a difference and you should be proud of yourself 😊 As for me, I grew up with the mantra of not leaving a room empty-handed so that helps a lot in keeping our apartment somewhat tidy. I also love to reset at night and have a clean kitchen and tidy workspace. In my job I sometimes don't see any results for my work but clesning gives me this immediate satisfaction of things looking better because I put a little work in it!

I used to be like that - kicking my shoes off, throwing my bag over here, my jacket over there etc and making disaster zone right when I came home. I’ve adopted the “one touch rule” so instead of dumping everything down then moving it later, I just immediately put it where it goes. It saves energy in the long run because you’ve already cut out one step of going back to pick it up where you set it down. It has really cut down the counter clutter in our home!

One thing I was taught early on is I don’t leave the BR in the mrng. without at least pulling up the covers and resetting the pillows on the bed. Nice video as always. One question: Do you need less time to tidy everything up since you have less things? I mean compared to when you started your journey? I love the vintage look of your kitchen. The floor really looks perfect with it all. No, I hate to clean. But thing is, I have two cats and you can't have a dirty appartement with two cats. So they keep me motivated. I am still on my journey, but compared to how things were two years ago, I made some considerable progress. I still have more things than I acutally need and use, but it is not as overwealming as it once was.

I do NOT love to clean! I used to be a total clutter zone. I did learn one thing from fly lady and that is if it only takes a minute to clean it up or put it away, do it NOW. That has helped me so much to cut down on clutter that I no longer leave out. I am 73 with health issues so every little bit I can do helps overall. I also have adopted the clean kitchen before I go to bed theory. So nice to wake up to a clean kitchen. By the way, you are looking totally ready for company.

Hey❤️ I may not know you personally however I care about you deeply because I know how much you mean to Jesus Christ The King of ALL CREATION . I want to tell you that Jesus Christ loves you so much, he died for our sins so that whoever believes in him wouldn’t have to perish in hell but instead have eternal life in heaven. You need to understand that HEAVEN and HELL are 1000% REAL they aren’t imaginary , and hell is a horrible place I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. God doesn’t want you to end up there he wants you in heaven and so he is giving you a chance to accept the sacrifice of his son Jesus Christ and be saved. Day by Day the world is falling apart because we are literally living in the last days of Earth there is no doubt or debate about it, Jesus Christ is coming faster then you think to bring judgement to the world and to destroy it. This really is URGENT, it’s NOT A JOKE ,Tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone, you can be alive one minute and gone the next, please take this opportunity to be on the side of Mercy confess your sins and wicked ways to Jesus , sincerely REPENT/turn away from them, ask for his forgiveness, and be baptized at a real bible believing church- ask him to enter your heart and to be your Lord and Savior before it is too late , truly believe in him and he WILL do it because it is his promise. It’s important that you seek the righteous and Holy path of the Most high God so that you may inherit eternal life and be spared of Hell fire. You can begin a new life in Christ and have a genuine relationship with him, please repent. Jesus changed my life and he will change yours too🥰, He is coming NOW! not SOON- when you least expect it!, therefore repent and make sure you are prepared. May the Lord be with you eternally💕🙏🏾

I think I’m a little both, but I’m also a diagnosed OCD. Maybe I don’t love to clean just don’t know how not too. I have thought myself to put things away as I use them, or clean as I go. It helps with anxiety and for the most part the house is always some what clean. I do deep clean resets, which means, dust, really deep clean the floors/carpet, do monthly mini space reset declutter for anything that might snuck in or find things I didn’t use that I thought I might. It gives me room to see if decor ideas change or if I found a better way to better keep up. I find that I have more time for play doing things this way. It works for me and my house always looks somewhat out together. 😊

Woo so happy to see you're getting a vacuum cleaner 😂 As others have noted, your cleaning is now more streamlined and routine and I feel it takes you less time to tidy it up. But more importantly, you know you need to tidy it up, if only for company. It's a great step forward for you and you should be proud! I adore cleaning, and if I see my desk be messy at 11pm I look at it to see what's the mess, and if it's just going to take 2min to put a few books or clothes away then I do that for my future self :) cleaning for me is more small tidy ups through the day and one longer (1-2h) clean up on the weekend.

I love to clean and have an orderly house, I feel my most comfortable that way. I always have a place to put stuff and when I use things I put it back where I got it from. You create more work when you don’t and let it accumulate wherever, and I don’t want to work harder just smarter. When I do that I don’t have a lot to clean.
@beckie102 жыл бұрын
So, I’m definitely someone that likes to clean, but after you were asking about it I had to stop and think about the why/how/etc. I think, for me, I enjoy the instant gratification I get from seeing something be cleaned. I can be a messy person and am not really a maintenance cleaner. I clean when something needs it, and I think that’s where the gratification comes in. I’ve also always enjoyed physical hard work, which sounds a little weird, but it’s a nice feeling to be tired after putting in a lot of effort into something you know? It makes the relaxation that comes afterward extra rewarding.😊 Also, completely unrelated, I don’t know if the knobs on your folding doors are new or I just never noticed before, but I love them!!😍

I always enjoy your videos. Food expiration dates aren't an indication of whether or not the food is still safe to eat. I always give the food a sniff (especially dairy) to see if it's going off, but most food is still perfectly fine well past the "expiration" date. (PSA: If cans are badly dented or if there are obvious signs of spoilage, discard).

I don’t love cleaning. I would be very happy to have a regular housecleaner. I made plenty of messes. One day I decided to work on changing that by creating some habits. Habits like putting things away as part of “completing the cycle”. Always = 95%. My keys always go on a hook. My purse always goes in a dresser drawer. My shoes always go back on the shelf in my closet. My clothes always get put away - either rehung or in the laundry hamper. My bed gets made when I get up. I have a habit of doing a nightly walk-thru to set things right. Takes very little time. ✳️ I started with just constantly reminding myself to “do it now”. I like having my purse tucked away out of sight. I never have to worry if anyone might tamper with it and I always know where it is. Keys go on the hook - in case hubby needs them for some reason and I’ll always know where they are. Purchases get unpackaged and put in their new home or where they’ll be used next. Sometimes I rebel and let things slide - but life runs a little smoother when I do these things on the fly as part of my regular routine. ✳️Cleaning? I mostly follow FlyLady routines with a few tweaks. I gather trash twice a week. I change bed linens every other week. One bed one week. The other bed the next week. I do a load of laundry a day as needed. Towels, lights, darks, sheets, extra item. I do a quick dust. Vacuum. Mop the kitchen, 2 bathrooms and the den. I’ve settled on proven tools, products and methods. My routine is to clean all the mirrors and glass doors. Then go through and do all the dusting. Then vacuum the whole house. Then mop the 3 areas. Most weeks I split it across 2-3 days. ✳️ Deeper cleaning. I spend a little extra time cleaning in a different zone each week. This week it’s the kitchen. Yesterday I cleaned the microwave and wiped the cabinet fronts. Today I decluttered and cleaned the spice cabinet. I plan to do the pantry over the next 2 days. And, do a good thorough cleaning of the floor. ✳️ It didn’t take long to create the habit. And, now I hardly think about it as I do it. It runs smoothly. I don’t leave a room without a quick scan to see what needs to be set right or taken out of the room and returned to its place. I’m not perfect. But, so much better than before.

I am a certified neat freak. Neat freakery of the highest form suits me but…I do not like to sweep 🧹, mop, dust, do laundry 🧺 or wash dishes. I also don’t like having a house keeper. So I do it myself. I am not obsessive about keeping things tidy. I live in a very tiny place so it doesn’t take long to clean and 3 years ago when I decided to live minimally I find I still am decluttering and redoing things to have even less. I am slowly working on a small bin of paper/photo clutter. When I say small bin it’s the size of a storage cute ⏹ that you find at Ikea and it’s not even full. I am going to declutter a bit more tomorrow and also reduce my cell phone bill by switching carriers. It all kind of goes hand & hand. Decluttering your space & finances. 💕 I love your videos you are just a normal woman doing normal things. 😊

I'm similar to how you described yourself, I have a way of creating a tornado wherever I go. I have this idea that I am always exploring in my head... it's the concept of changing your tolerance or meter for clutter or things that aren't put away. I have been trying to decrease the time between the moment I stop using something and the moment I put it away. I think that more times you put things away directly after use it = the more time you have to enjoy the tidy space = the more your tolerance for clutter decreases. If your tolerance decreases then the "its time to put all this away" feeling comes sooner than it used to. This might be a very simple concept that I am ovwrcomplicating but it works for me loool

My motivation is laziness. If I tidy up after myself all the time as I go, I never have to do a major tidy and it makes necessary cleaning easier, leaving me more time to walk my dog, drink tea, knit, read books or whatever… 😉 (ps did you put a guest towel out for people washing their hands after using the bathroom?! I frequently stand with wet hands not knowing which towel to use and reluctant to use someone‘s personal towel hanging there!!)

I love to clean. NOW when my kids were younger it was tougher but I still loved it. I have a place for everything and everything is in its place and I am a person with many many things. I love my plants and pretties.

Oh Carla, Such an awesome video. Your place looks stunning. Thank you for sharing this. By the way, I noticed Samson keeps scratching and I wanted to let you know that my dog did the same thing. My vet said that our dog was allergic to treats we were giving her or her food so we switched to a grain free food and only give her natural home made treats. It has really helped. Just a thought. And,, While I am not a OCD cleaning type person, I do get anxiety if my home is cluttered. When my kids were little, we never had clutter but I was a SAHM too. I love seeing a clean environment.
