Sleepovers? Should you let your child sleepover a friends house?

In this video, my wife and I discuss wether or not we should allow our children to sleepover their friends house, why and why not, as well as accepting the fact that we have a difference of opinion.

I agree with both of you. Each of you brought up good points. I did let my children to sleep over at their friends house but they were my neighbors and before that happened. I make my business to get to know them . Once I felt comfortable with them. That’s when I let my kids to sleepover. My daughter was 8 and my son 10 years old. Now my kids are 27 and 30 years old. And they still close friends with them.

Letting my daughter stay at her friends house was way harder for me than with my son but we eventually have allowed both of our children to stay with their close friends by age 12-14 if we knew the parents or met the parents beforehand. You also gotta know your children are comfortable enough to tell one of you as their parents if God forbid something was to happen. My biggest fear is that my daughter may not tell me because she has a fairly good idea of what I would do in that situation. Which is something I try to work on but I love my kids more than anything in this world & if anyone did anything to alter their lives for the worst it’s ☠️. Me & their mother are still together so worst case scenario I know she would still tell her mother but its really about being confident in your own family unit & protecting your children before all else while not being overprotective & its not easy by any stretch. Even my son who’s 17 now is a little overprotective of his little sister so that brings me joy knowing he’s watching out for her when I’m not around & let’s me know we’ve at least raised him halfway right 😆. I think this was a great topic for parents if you couldn’t tell by the length of my comment.

Great topic. I believe is ok for kids to have sleepovers as long as you know the families where they will be staying the night.

Great video! I'll just say I'm glad that I don't have to raise kids in this day and age. I sure hate that my granddaughter has to make her way through this crazy world we're living in with all that's out there now a days. Back in the day, yes we let our kids stay the night with friends when they were young but they were folks who we knew VERY well. Now, I can't say I would really want them going until their teen years. It's hard to trust anyone, honestly.

Def shared a few laughs with you both. Video was informing and appropriate for all parents wether the age, race or culture. I’m sure every parent has thought about this topic at least once. Even though you talked mainly about that creepy uncle or cousin, I feel like a bigger threat will be social media and how easy it is for our children to find anything on the internet within seconds. NO!!!! It’s an excuse to get out! My daughter had their friends staying at my house and guess what? Someone pulling up to my house at 2am to see her! Not in my watch. I have seeing some crazy things.
