CLEANING 1,2 KG of SILVER coins (my best find of 2023)

Hey Wim and Joopie!! That was great!! I’ve never seen silver cleaned in that way before. I have a lot of silver and I put it in my stainless steel sink with a piece of aluminum foil with hot water vinegar and baking soda. All I do is dip my silver in it and it’s clean within a matter of a few seconds. I could only do this first thing in the morning while my son is at work because he’s very sensitive to smell and it actually makes him gag the smell of it.

You can clean silver with 2 parts white vinegar and one part coarse Kosher pickling salt. Just warm it up, not boiling. Leave the silver in there until it begins to get whiter. Take it out and rinse in water. You can repeat as needed. Since this is old silver test one piece first and watch it as it "pickles". Then it will be much easier to polish with scrap leather or soft cloth. I am a studio jeweler so let me know if I can help. Catherine
