I had one of the massive original Rio’s, only £7k brand spanking new, got 140k miles in before it died, wasn’t the nicest place to be, but functional for getting around with the kids, the newer ones look a million miles more welcoming (once clean). Die hard, the ultimate Xmas movie....that and a wee dram and plenty of sitting about relaxing. Merry xmas

I need to say that you're the best detail channel on youtube. No stupid products placements. Most "detail" videos from other channels are just cleaning muddy cars. You are removing filth that set down for years. And this requires real work.

The scratches around the ignition key hole are unbelievable, clearly the driver went for trial and error instead of actually looking at where the key was going. Otherwise it came up very nice.

more like eejits with 20-30 things on the key ring, and swing back and forth as the car moves, and it scuffs the hell out of the plastics in lower half of the column, but you're right the top half is like Stevie Wonder trying to star the car every day!! 😂

Cracking job. As other have said it is so refreshing to see a filthy car being cleaned and rejuvenated as opposed to one that is just a tad dirty but has some minor paint marring that takes some supposed top detailer days on end to correct and charges thousands for doing it. You do detailing for the real world and from I've seen your work is loads better and thorough than all those poncy high end companies.

When KIA was only a year or two old, I worked for a KIA dealership, and 1 of every 3-4 KIAs had to come in for warranty wirk! They were terrible. I'm so glad to see they have greatly improved! I'd actually consider buying now if I were in the market for a new car.

The reason you admire the style of this Kia Rio is because you have good taste. Kia had the smarts to hire Ex Audi designer Peter Schreyer in 2006 as head of design and this third generation UB Rio from 2011 was one of the models most influenced by his Tiger Nose design style. More than most Kia led the design revolution of Korean manufacturers that helped them to become competitive on the world market. Over Christmas I watched Ford V Ferrari and suggest you do too. I too have 2016 Rio in Urban Blue metallic so this video was indeed very interesting :) Good looking car in red too. Bought mine new and was thinking about getting the red colour but ended up to the Urban Blue which I like as well. Just last summer did thorough cleaning to the interior of my car but of course it wasn't very dirty in the beginning. Right now my Rio is very dirty outside as the roads are wet and salty (I'm in Finland). Maybe tomorrow I'll take it to a brushless machine wash. To answer the question, Die Hard is indeed really great Christmas movie. I'll visit my relatives in Christmas, driving my Kia Rio of course :)

I would recommend you buy an extractor that you can fill with water. When you extract you can spray the water and it will dilute the cleaning solution. This way you can get everything out. It's best that way. Without spraying water you will never get it all.

This was one of those Kias that brought them back from extinction. This car still looks good even after all these years. This was one of the first cars with Peter Schreyer at Kia (he came from audi). When this was launched in South Africa, they were so popular that every single shipment that came in was sold out. People couldn't get one and some waited up to 4 months. Especially the top spec version which was a 1.4 Tec with leather seats, rear pdc, the LED lights, cruise control etc. because it has all that and was crazy well priced. Basically everything. My friend tried to get one but couldn't. This is when people started to take note of Kia. And yes they are reliable. He ended up with a Picanto (also the first one under Peter Schreyer) but a top spec with sunroof and all. Years later with 220,000 kms and it hasn't even given one day of trouble. And it was abused. But now Kia has gotten a bit greedy I think. Their cars are pricy now and their drive trains not up to standard. Compare the new Rio to a new Polo and the Kia seems to fall behind with its naturally aspirated engines.

Great job again Gary. Never fails to amaze me how lazy some people are to clean their cars. If they can't be bothered or simply don't care there are plenty of £7 a car valeting places around now that'll do a quick powerwash and hoover out. By the way I also clay bar my front and rear screens every other wash. Using Bilt Hamber Autofoam then Angelwax Shampoo followed by Angelwax Blue Rinse on my old Astra, comes up a treat. With the family for Christmas and will watch any Bond movie I can find. Merry Christmas! Have a great one!
