ICYI For older caps (4 or more years) I’ve used dry-cleaning. 1. Used a really old cap for “experimental” purposes 2. Result: Very effective. Made the cap seem brand new Side Effect: 1)Minor crumpling on some areas of the cap, not noticeable while wearing. 2)Sweat band cleaned effectively (a plus!) Dry-cleaning I recommend for caps that you’re considering discarding but might want to get another year out of. It’s not for every cap but worth a try. I was charged about $5 for the service.

Can you do a video when you feel you should consider throwing a hat away? I have hats that are nearly 15 years old, some in better condition than others, but there comes a time when it can not be cleaned or repaired. I'm interested in your opinion on it. I recently had to let go 10 hats but wondered how you take inventory and factors you consider in throwing them away. Thank you!

That's a good suggestion for a video... and yes, there are some things I consider - like how bad is it, how is the fit after years of use, and what is the likelihood of replacing it with the same design (if it is a favorite). All good things to think about, thanks for the request - I will add it to the list!

Just what I was looking for, Great vid, looking forward to part 2, you think the Clorox wipes will work on white sweatbands ?
@dreinthe6166 жыл бұрын
For keeping it fresh, yes - for getting it back to clean white, I'm not so sure... I'll bet the wipes will remove some of the surface dirt and sweat residue, but might be limited in getting it back to looking new. Thanks for the comment.

Hello Doug, I was wondering if it would b possible if u can maybe put 2gether a vid where u showcase all the generations of new era fitted's year by year, dosent really matter the team but wut new era did from year 2 year, if u can that would b so awsome if not then please keep up the excellent work, thank you !

That is a good idea, but is probably a bigger video than I would be able to create. I'll still keep reviewing collections as they come out, though - thanks.

@@dreinthe616 I was thinking that maybe I should post a video on the "real vs. fake" thing, even though that ship has sailed i believe, but focus more on the same subject but the fact of the matter where they were bought, and also the fact that new era does put authentic collections on the field that the players do wear made straight outta china. Going through a part of my hat collection I have found some interesting discoveries as far as manufacturing standards for authentics and exclusives and for some if the years that new era has been putting product out. Only thing is I've never put a video up on any social media outlet, especially youtube. What do u think ?
@dreinthe6166 жыл бұрын
Hey Trav, it's probably hard to believe, but that is in a similar direction that I was headed for my next video - quality of features on US-made vs. globally made caps. A couple of viewers commented about it over the summer. I was editing some of that already, and I probably made some of the same observations that you did. If you wanted to try a vid sometime, my main advice would be to start with a focused topic so you can learn with a short run time. Thanks again for your comments!

What is best for sweat stains and whitish appearance of it especially on dark color hats
@dreinthe6164 жыл бұрын
Well, definitely check out my part 2, which is more of a deep clean video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y52ynGmwo7iohJo - if you haven't seen it already. I think that something like the Clorox or Lysol wipes are pretty good for a first pass on those stains. Then if you need to go deeper, it's light soapy water that you apply with a sponge - don't submerge the visor because they never seem to be the same after being soaked - and then go back over with clean water and sponge.

Awesome channel sir. I am a cap lover myself. I have developed quite a collection over the past few years and was curious on how I should store them. How do you store them?
@dreinthe6166 жыл бұрын
I'll probably make a video for that at some point, but for now... I basically leave the cap body "open" (not folded in like at the store), and then just keep them in stacks on a closet shelf, no more than 5-6 high in each stack. Sometimes I have to re-shape or stretch some of them, but I try and circulate them regularly. Thanks for watching!

Do you ever use water resistant spray on your hats? They are usually marketed for shoes but state they can be used on hats as well.. how do you feel about these products?
@dreinthe6165 жыл бұрын
Actually I've never tried that on a cap... although I might include a 'stain repellent' spray in that general category (like Scotch-Guard that I use on fabric car seats). For water resistant sprays, I'd maybe try one that is geared toward canvas or other fabrics, rather than suede or leather. And proceed with caution - maybe start with a hidden area or a cap that you don't care that much about. Thanks for the question!

@dreinthe6166 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I know exactly what you mean, but you might be describing some of the "ripples" that form in the seam between the back two panels? I have that on some of my caps, but it usually goes away when I put them on. I have not tried anything to smooth those out yet, so if that's what you are describing, unfortunately I don't have any suggestions for you right now.

I'm pissed off by a video I watched where the commentors were commenting rudely because the video was someone, an actress I believe, was talking about her husband wearing his baseball cap in the UK and she was laughing at him and saying how Americans wear them more than they do there and all the commentors under the video were mostly European ( which I am by ancestry because all Americans are) were saying Americans look childish wearing baseball caps among other things they said that pissed me off about our mentality. I know other countries do not typically wear baseball caps as it is worn in the US for a reason ( baseball, hence the name baseball cap!) Someone commented that in the USA 30 and 40 year olds wear them...... like it was a crime. It doesn't look immature. It doesn't make you look like a child. Children aren't the only people to wear baseball caps. Just because in the UK and elsewhere it is that way doesn't mean we look dumb. I love my baseball cap. In fact, it's really not even a baseball cap because a baseball cap usually has the name of a baseball team logo on it ( hence why we wear baseball caps! hey whaddaya know! morons). The one I usually now wear is a navy blue Goorin Bros. trucker cap with the Lone Wolf patch on front. That looks pretty good to me. It's pretty plain...not too much going on all over it. Not childish. I could maybe see if an adult were wearing a spiderman cap or something but then again geeks usually wear them who are over 20. It just angered me a lot that these people, who never been the the US, didn't know anyone from the US and just probably saw us portrayed on TV as such, they were making rude comments. I love a good cap with my overcoat... I think it adds some character. Not when I'm going to a wedding or a funeral or a romantic dinner but everyday events I will wear my lone wolf cap with my overcoat or with my sherpa jacket. Nothing wrong with that and I'm 42.

Baseball caps are an ingredient of modern style, whether certain people accept it or not. You should find and read an article in the New York Times called 'The Common Man's Crown' - I think you might like it - www.nytimes.com/2015/04/05/magazine/the-common-mans-crown.html

My tiger "D" logo always gets dirty. Drives me crazy. How do I keep it white?
@dreinthe6162 жыл бұрын
That's a pretty tough item to clean... typically I would recommend using a Q-Tip and dipping it into a small bowl of some sort of detergent or cleaning solution. I'd prefer a mild soap/water solution with a lemon/citrus based detergent first. If you use any kind of cleaning solution, check first to make sure it does NOT make colors bleed, especially given the white thread in the D logo. You can repeat the Q-Tip application with clean water after the detergent application. I've not done this a lot but may put something together to show it in the future, thanks.
