This is the reason I shy away from buying on the second hand market. I am very scent sensitive and I have asthma. Strong scents like, deodorizer, smoke, and purfumes trigger my asthma

Happy New Year! I have some experience in dying fabric…kinda the opposite direction from this….but I’ve found that if the fabric is heavy-plastic based it’s hard to get it to take color. I’m wondering if the socks that stayed yellow were more heavily plastic based and similar to the material on the physical doll which is why it stayed so yellow? Not sure if that’s related? Anyway…hope this year brings you lots of joy, health, love and dolls.

I saw someone say before that a vinegar+water bath was good for setting darker dyes in fabric that have a tendency to stain so I've used it any time I purchased a new piece of doll clothing in a darker colour, especially if it's going onto an Integrity doll which for some reason reallyyy have a tendency to stain (maybe it's the plastic they're made from? not sure). Good to know it helps cigarette smell too!

This is super helpful, I steer away from dolls from smoke homes, but in the future I know how I can possibly fix them up and solve the smell issues ^_^

Oxiclean works because it is hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Hydrogen peroxide is a very mild natural bleach, and baking soda is a natural deodorizer. In fact, you can remove the remaining smell by putting the dolls in a container and cover them with baking soda - dry not wet. And leave them for a few days to work.

Did you try the Benzoyl Peroxide cream/gel + sun light in the dolls to treat the staining on their bodies? i feel that could help

You could use acne cream on the vinyl stains on the face and body. It takes out the green ear on Barbie dolls.

i didn't know about the vinegar thing for the smell, i might try it. i bought a "brand new" 90s barbie backpack on ebay that was sealed & the seller said it was from a smoke free home but it still stunk of cigarettes 💀 so i might try that technique to get rid of the smell, i've been airing it out but it hasn't worked that well so far

I got some mold-smelling dolls at a thrift store and the only solution was vinegar. Now I swear by it haha! If you hate the smell of vinegar it’s not the best though

I wonder if carpet cleaner foam would work on the socks? I bought an old yellowed cushion at a thrift store a few years ago and what I did to get rid of the staining was I put it in the washer, then I sprayed it with carpet cleaner a couple of times and let it soak over night and after that I put it in the washer again to rinse it

Having a similar issue with some zelfs I purchased. I knew the conditions weren’t going to be the best given the photos but I still was surprised to see just how bad they were in person. I got 3 doubles from the 20 I got and compared one of them to one I already Own and when I tell you I was actually so shocked, the one I owned was a cool pale blue and the one I had received was just a yellow tangy discolouration 😭 it also stained some of the hair.

If I ever encounter this issue, I am definitely trying your method out! The only thing I experienced was just the cigarette smell. It was on the doll, the hair and clothes - i wanted to cry cuz seller didnt mention it at all😂 But all I did to get rid of it was rinse and soak them in hot then later warm water and liquid lemon scented dish soap with de-greaser thing in it (lemon scented was just a personal preference idk if the scent choice helps😂) maybe 2 or 3 times or more depending on how dirty. I changed the water just cuz I felt it got dirty after a while. Let it air dry and air out and majority of the smell is gone✨

Love your content a lot and absolutely no hate, but to correct, that a pure neemo body, defining feature for me is the hands, obitsu hands are usually default in a straight pose while pure neemo has that curved pose, but both had different hands for different poses and both good bodys

I have a Yuyuko pureneemo doll which is the same brand as these dolls and she smelled like cigarettes so bad and there is a cigarette stain on her dress so this is a pretty helpful video for me to watch

Vinegar water usually sets color so if you do that first, no bleeding of color then wash. If the Oxyclean doesn't work use baking soda, water and a toothbrush - I use a powered toothbrush because I had sooo many doll clothes to wash. The Iron on parts might have been affected due to the temperature of the water. You did a Great Job!! Hair - shampoo, conditioner then air dry. Also wrapping them in fabric softener sheets in a zip lock bag for a couple of days.

You said you never dealt with stains...something I learned in my teens, aerosol hair spray gets out ink stains in clothes, cold milk gets out grass stains and blood stains (protein gets out protein), Toothpaste gets out tree sap.

Yes! It’s just the brand name for a type of powder cleaner- there’s tons of cheaper dupes out there!

Did you try wd40 and Dawn dish soap. Wd40 lifts the old oil and Dawn cleans the oil away

I just got a Madame Alexander Cissy doll in the mail today. Opened up the box and wham, the putrid smell of cigarette hit me. The dress she was wearing unfortunately is yellow. I cleaned the doll with Mr Clean Goop and something called magic eraser. The smoke smell seems to have disappeared from the body. The hair, which I haven't touched still smells. The hair looks nice so I don't know if I want to tackle it. I might just let it air out. That's worked on dolls in the past. I did some research on the dress, since it's an official Madame Alexander product there's numerous examples online. It's supposed to be white. So right now I have it soaking in Oxy dish soap. It seems slightly better. I need to go shopping today so I'm going to buy some Oxy like you have in the video. I'll see how that goes.

Try baking soda. It’s a cleaner and removes odors. The vinegar smell was too strong for me. You could try some bluing on the stocking, it’s an old whiting product my grandma use to use. Great job 💯

The vinegar smell dissipates pretty quickly in my experience. Baking soda did nothing for the staining for me

Yoir new dolls are pretty. They turned out a lot cleaner. Perhaps next time try the Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother using luke warm water, not hot. That should remove the cigarette residue from their hair. It has enzymes in it and should remove the odors completely and condition the hair too.

Coming from someone that collects dolls and is 16 and has a family that smokes: Jesus you really have to smoke A LOT to do this I don't understand how someone can smoke that much the most my family will smoke is like 4 cigarettes a day but this is crazy I'm in disbelief none of my dolls are Staind so its crazy to me how this can happen and the saler should have said they smoked

My dad chain smoked at last one pack a day (not sure if he still does- I would hope not) and usually would sit in the garage and this is about what it looked like for the things unlucky enough to be kept there. I have a feeling this was an indoor smoker and the dolls were just caught in the crossfire. Sad but I’m relieved I could help them:) In Japan, things are often listed as “junk” and I’ve gotten brand new product in perfect condition before labeled as junk. If something is listed as junk, you CAN NOT dispute if there’s any issues- so I took a calculated risk in buying them. I’ve never encountered actual stains from cigarettes… in the pic I assumed it was just dust O_O It was just an unlucky pull for me, but I’m overjoyed with the final result so I’m happy. I got them for a steal considering they can go for $100-$200 each!

Thanks for the video. You mostly covered the smell and staining in the clothes. What I’m needing is advice on how to remove the smoke smell from an already painted reborn doll. The head and limbs are hollow. Also the eyes and eyelashes are already applied. I suppose it wouldn’t be a big deal to reapply the eyelashes if they come off in the cleaning process. Have you had any experience treating this type of doll? And if so how would I go about getting that smell out? Thanks for any help you can give me! - Priscilla
