Great video as always Mike. Idea for a new investment, a grapple bucket. You would save so much time for cleaning bed packs,

Something so satisfying about your videos. Not a John Deere man but so down to earth. Different You tube, but asked about winter. Different farer north in snow belt on hill. Long time ago "25 yrs" but snow was love hate. Makes you appreciate the nice weather. Many a winter piling. We had days you opened up your door to see if you were still on the road. When you looked into the cockpit straight ahead of you, you new you were a little high. We lived next to Air Force testing site. Views great on clear day, not so much in winter winds when you can't see your hand in front of your face. Life lesson. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

Thank you Jeff. I'm glad you enjoy the videos. Yeah knock on wood we have had a pretty mellow winter and I've been fine with it. Even though I'm a John Deere guy I don't have any issues with other tractors. Its cool to see the other tractors work

Thanks you. We really like it. It flows really well and really easy to work in

I know we've talked about equipment on the "wish list", one of our biggest is a skid steer loader. We don't have much free stall housing to clean still, for feeding and moving snow a skid steer would be very valuable. Someday.... Actually our heifers spend most of the winter in the woods outside. We make up a wall among the trees out of the wind and feed them well. Seems to work well for us.

Hopefully you are able to get one. We love our skid steer. They are great machines

Great video Mike.. cows are most happy in clean pens… I don’t like oat straw because it’s very dusty and itchy. But you are right they make great bedding.
@mikep78102 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rick. It sure does make great bedding

Old deere sounds good we use too have a single axle spreader but got rid of it and got a duel axle spreader can really haul now good video Mike
@mikep78102 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. I would like a duel axle spreader but we went with the single axle cause of the sharp turn leaving the barn
@billymoad2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike from northwest Missouri was wondering why you don't put barn lime down after cleaning and before putting new straw down 👇👇

Hi Billy. I usually do but I was out. I have to get some more

Great video Mike. That H&S spreads nice, does it clean itself out good and do you like it better than the Kuhn knight
@mikep78102 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jason. Yeah we have been really happy with the H&S. The Kuhn was a great spreader. We like the bear claws on the end of the H&S then the hammers on the Kuhn for the beaters that fling the manure

Just a question not a criticism, is the New Holland skid steer as shaky as it looks ? I know that's a big bucket but even empty it looks to shake the machine pretty good.
@mikep7810 Жыл бұрын
The hydraulics are a little touchy on it. Its a 27 year old machine so its seen a lot of work throughout the years

How big is your heifer barn? Looks like 5 heifers to a pen? We’re thinking of adding a lean to like that onto our existing barn for weaned calves and do a bed pack like that but not sure how big we should make pack area. We plan for 20 head but I know it’ll be 30 at times.
@mikep7810 Жыл бұрын
We have head locks for 7 heifers. It sounds like you will need your group to be the size of 2 of our groups
