I went through depression & severe social anxiety throughout my teens and my bedroom often looked like this, sometimes even worse with stuff all over the floor. I really struggled emotionally and I was shamed for the state of my bedroom and forced to greet any visitors who would be shown my room to shame me by my parents. If my parents had recognised my depression and anxiety before it almost ended me, I may have never needed a therapist to pull me out of it. These kids are lucky to have a mother that sees her kids struggle and helps cheer them up ❤

When I was a young girl my friend had a birthday party. We, about 6 young girls and her mother, went out to dinner at a French restaurant. Very nice! I remember seeing their relationship from across the table. I was bewildered. My mother was a troubled woman who took her feelings out on me. It is so awesome and supportive that you have just tidied up for your daughter. Just made life a little easier for her rather than making life harder. 💕

I always get very emotional when someone doese a favor without me asking for it, because I can't tell in words how much thankful I would be because no one often does something like that to help me. People often forget or just completely ignore the fact that just because teenagers can be independent does not mean they have to be independent all the time. parents are allowed to do things for their teenagers, Even if the teens are perfectly able to do it themselves. And sometimes that's not the case, sometimes the teen isn't mentally or physically able to do it themselves at the moment.

gosh this is just so kind. i from time to time fall into depressive episodes (i’m 15) and my room can get very messy, especially since i also have adhd. my dad offers to help clean when i feel like this but sadly i have a hard time with letting others touch my things or move my stuff.

i’m somewhat in the same boat !! i’m 16 & struggle with depression and severe ocd. it’s a struggle bc you want your room clean but you’re too off-feeling to want to fix it, and then having a dirty room still at the end of the day damages your mental health so much. one little tip i can give u is to genuinely just do one thing at a time. my depression piles are usually water bottles 😭 but also clothes thrown everywhere and stuff. i’ll spend one day doing a singular thing like clearing the water bottles, then leave another thing for sometime later while also keeping to make sure your first task isn’t getting as bad again if that makes sense lol ?!? 💀
