Nice tip. Thx for Sharing. I myself like using these types of rocks. Smooth, and roundish. The tank looks great btw. 🖖

Great idea, instead of boiling the rocks and take the chance of messing up a pot. Also the lady of the house is not very happy with the idea of using good pots for the fish tanks... 😉

I found some really nice rocks for my bearded dragon aquarium and I cleaned them and they smell like pee and so does the stump

I’m not familiar with pink granite in aquariums.
@FishRfun10 ай бұрын
@LongIslandFishGuy yeah I found it on Etsy. The guy knew it was going in my aquariums because he's even waiting to get more to see if he can find a tall piece I want for my 55g. Very cool seller to do that

Is sandstone safe for aqaurium? Will it affect my aqaurium parameters? Also what kind of rocks are you collecting that are safe?
@LongIslandFishGuy3 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard of people using it before but I personally do not. I would steer clear as I hear mixed things about it.

Is it fine if the fish put their mouths on the rocks after the rocks have been introduced to the tank, assuming all the other initial steps have been taken?
@LongIslandFishGuy2 жыл бұрын
Yes
@rifraf61355 жыл бұрын
Wait so the rocks that are safe are the ones that dont have any holey type spots like yaknow... rough edges?

If you boil rocks they can explode, look it up, I didn't think it was true either

Do I need the chlorine?
@LongIslandFishGuy2 жыл бұрын
If you don’t use chlorine I would suggest a bleach solution or hydrogen peroxide
@enzosoltani29352 жыл бұрын
Also, can you use the same procedure to add cement blocks to the aquarium?
@LongIslandFishGuy2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never done that before, but I don’t see why not

Do I need to use chlorine tablets if my water is already chlorinated?
@LongIslandFishGuy2 жыл бұрын
I would. Your chlorinated tap water is safe to drink. If it’s safe to drink it probably wouldn’t kill parasites, fungus, or bacteria living on the rocks.

what park is this? (um from LI)
@LongIslandFishGuy2 жыл бұрын
Trail View State Park (I had to look it up 😅) it’s really small but I was driving passed and needed rocks. I believe it’s the start of the trail that connects all the way down to Jones Beach.

@@LongIslandFishGuy Thank you so much! Really appreciate it, ill definitely be heading there soon
@jeremybrown58662 жыл бұрын
Not everyone has chlorine sitting around lol. There's chlorine in your tap water that'll do the same thing! Use a 1:30 bleach water solution and it'll work better!
@LongIslandFishGuy Жыл бұрын
Chlorine is cheap and can be found at hardware stores or pool stores. Chlorine in your tap water is not strong enough to act as a cleaning agent, and if it was, I’d suggest not using the tap water jn your house for anything. Bleach can work as well but you need to ensure that you clean the rocks afterwards extremely well.

Yes but you run the risk of cracking the rocks if they get too hot or boiled for too long
