Hey Jamie, I saw that pink shirt you had on and I believe the lettering represented something to do with cross country racing. If that's the case I have to tell you that my daughter ran cross country in high school and college. She lost her mother when she was 14 and I think she found great solace and peace through her running. She's 32 now and still runs!

Man that is a lot of material in that barnyard. Is this desired and if not, could you feed your hay in round bale feeders to reduce the amount of wasted feed that ends up on the ground in the lot?

I was wondering why you don"t liquify that manure and spread it that way. Seems I saw that process up in Canada on the way to Alaska. Thinking that it would save quite a bit on fertilizer.

Welcome to the world of the South were the humidity runs with the temp. It can easily be in the 90's temp wise with the humidity in the 90's. You have to peel your underwear off, corn starch works really well.

I grew up on a dairy farm so when I say this I know what I am talking about, any manure with bedding in it on hay ground spread thin or not will be picked up by your wheel rake. Just my experience.

If you take your drag and run over where you spread it'll knock the clumps apart and even out the manure better

Why do you use manure speaders like this one in the US? They don't seem to have a very high working widht and high volume either. I'm from Germany and here nobody uses manure spreaders of this type, here we use spreaders of the brands Strautmann, Tebbe, or Bergmann for example, and they all have horizontal rolls with teeth on them to shred the manure into smaller bits and then it falls down on two spinning disks like on a fertilizer spreader which throw the manure on the field. Those machines have a working width of mostly 15 to 20 meters and a volume of 12 to 20m3.

They demo'd one like that last year, I guess it's not a priority for them. Funds are limited, got to spend them well. Also it's funny all the brands you mention are German, lol XD. German quality engineering :)

Two Questions...1: Do you have any problems with putting down uncomposted waste in the summer time on your growing fields between cuttings or Do you get enough rain to wash it in fast enough? 2: I would kill for the rain your getting you are getting.. Send it out west please.....

Depth perception is easy. Wiggle your head from side to side. The thing in front of you that moves to the same side as your head is closer than the other stuff. If two things move, the one that moves more is closer than the other one. :-)

It sucks that's how most farms have to operate now. I'd love to farm with my dad and brother full time, but it's just not feasible for the farm to support two families, and then myself on top of it. At least I have a decent enough job that allows me to invest in a few quarter sections and work full time, helping out whenever I can on the farm. Makes for long days sometimes though.

Jason Roberts they do it to keep the soil good for growing crops.Soybean stalks are full of nutrition and when they are plowed under they sort of pre-fertilize the field.

Oh how I wish... I wish the farms around the area where I lived many years ago used strictly Cow Manure but no... they mixed that Crap with Turkey, Chicken, Cow, and Chicken Processing Plant waste water... my God that stuff was so powerful it killed the field for years but when the field came back they were able to get 4 Cuts of Hay in by seasons end. It sounds like a great deal until you smell it.

and what? does their Hay ground not need fertilizer as well? and it isn't always possible to get it spread in the winter for a few reasons I can't remember, he's said this in previous reasons, and spring and fall is hectic and busy for obvious reasons
