I daily drove (commuted) a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis LS from 1997-2019. It was the best car I ever had. The two rear windows would get stuck and have to be helped up. And, the power antenna quit. I manually raised and lowered it. It was gifted to me by my grandmother after my grandfather passed in 1996. Always garaged. It was black over gray leather. I think it just needed a fuel pump when I sold it with just under 170k miles. No rust, no accidents, black paint still shined, perfect leather and carpets. I babied it for 20 years. I now drive my dad's '04 Accord. It's another good one!

These are the best cars of the Panther Platform. I owned 2 of these eras, a 1988 and 1991 MGM, also a 2003 and 2006 MGM. I loved my 1988 the most. Can't wait to see the restore and see what you do with it!

My dad gave me his white 88 Ltd trailer special I just changed the heater core as my first fix on a car😁💪🏼. I’m loving that dash, mine is super cracked from the Cali sun lol. Glad to see some people actually like these cars still Bc I LOVE this car. I feel sorry for anyone who’s never rode in these, so smooth me and my brothers always fell asleep in the (sleep machine)😂great memories

Have a 91 Crown Vic Lx that was parked at least 4 to 5 years, at least, if not longer .she put up a fight but she is back on the road. I am in the northwest GA area,we still gotta a few of those hanging around

If you're just looking for a stock replacement, an AOD is what would come in them from the factory. A word of caution, though: be absolutely sure to check the TVcable connection at the throttle body. The plastic clip is known to deteriorate and fall apart over time. This allows the cable to become disconnected and will burn up the transmission if driven long that way.

I have an 88 LTD as well but mine stays inside out of the weather.. been working on stripping the vinyl roof off due to it having some small splits in it and i didn't want it to rot the roof.

This one has some rot under the vinyl roof. It's unfortunate since it's otherwise a pretty solid car.
