They can explain to then judge why they deserve to get paid. As I explained to the painters that screwed up my last project, leaving zebra stripes, drips on the carpet, and painting over spackle before it cured: "You may not think you need an attorney to file a mechanic's lien, but if you file mechanic's lien on this property, you're going to need an attorney." They ate the cost of the paint and labor, and I never heard from them again.

You can also put the roller INSIDE the bucket and spray the hose at it, it doesn’t have to be that close and is much cleaner… extra points if you drill a hole in the bottom so the bucket it drains out quicker than it fills up. Or you could just get a roller washer sleeve you attach your hose to, they work really well as well.

It's because when Jim started his career in painting decades ago houses were painted with real paint and Jim didn't realize that the new paint they've been making since the 1980's isn't real paint but a white wash formula intended to wash away in the rain after about 20 years so painters will have more work painting more often. Fun Fact: The house I grew up in was built in 1694 and has been painted exactly three times. The last time was in 1967 and it is still completely white and never pealed. Can you guess why?

Even if they weren't paying at the end of the day the time it takes you to clean, dry , repackage..etc It's not worth your time as someone who makes a good amount of money per hour.. I'd rather just spend another $2 or less if I buy them in bulk and get a new roller every time I have never yet cleaned out a roller and I've been painting for 3 and a 1/2 years.. Here's what I do: Before using water, scrape off all the paint that is soaked into the roller sleeve into a bucket or trash bag where it can safely dry and be disposed of. Then start washing it. Preferably in a bucket or some dirt patch. When you take off most of the paint, roll it onto something or bang it on your hand. The motion will loosen paint that was impeded deeper into the nap, and then wash again. Finally, roll the roller onto something until all the water comes out. Rolls should not be left with water or the follicles will clump up.

Latex paint is full of nitrogen, biodegradable, and you spin it till grass is green again,easy. Also, lamb wool rollers are expensive and last a long time if you clean them like this. Millions of painters do it. A lot of novices talk about it being wrong way.

Okay everyone you CAN actually do this properly. First use that bucket, put the roller inside of it, throw a lid on and hose it down through the crack in the lid. Still recommend just using a bucket and water and a five in one, or your hands. To all the people saying this is an EPA violation, it could be one of the VERY few brands of non toxic paint you can dump anywhere. (Doubt it, but still.)

It works great in the summer .winter not so good. But will kill the grass. You dont need the 5 gallon pail as a shield just tip the roller bit But even on a gravel area it makes a mess. Toss the roller sleeve. Its not like its a 25 brush.

Throw the roller in a bucket of water. Come back in a couple days, pour it all out, rinse the bucket, fill with water, put roller back in for another day. It'll be clean the when you remove it

You must have got that tip from student graffiti removers. Paint crew LOL! We used to use long poles on the rollers over the mop sink in the janitor closet and streamed the hot water in the way you demonstrate to knock off the latex paint. Worked every time ;)
